Delay Latch is a fast-paced football (soccer) game where movement, positioning, and mechanics play a crucial role in securing victory.

This Delay Latch Beginner Guide will break down all the essential mechanics, controls, and strategies to help you master the game. Whether you’re a beginner or looking to refine your skills, this is the only guide you’ll need to dominate in Delay Latch.

Delay Latch Beginner Guide

Basic Controls & Mechanics

1. Dribbling (E)

  • Pressing E makes you invulnerable to slide tackles.
  • Use this strategically to maintain possession when opponents attempt to steal the ball.

2. Slide Tackle (Q)

  • Press Q to execute a slide tackle.
  • You cannot slide tackle while holding the ball, but you can kick the ball forward and then slide to it for better positioning.

3. Kicking & Movement Speed

  • Moving with the ball is slower than running without it.
  • To maintain speed, kick the ball forward and chase it instead of just dribbling.

4. Dash (F)

  • Pressing F allows you to dash forward.
  • You can Dash → Slide to cover large distances quickly.
  • Combine dashes with other movements for evasive plays.

5. Kicking the Ball into the Air

If your dribble (E) is on cooldown, try kicking the ball into the air. This confuses opponents, as most players will slide tackle on the ground and miss.

After kicking the ball up, Dash forward to chase it down before others react.

Advanced Movement & Attacking

1. Side Dashes

  • Use side dashes (left and right) for both movement and attacking.
  • When charging a shot, dodge left or right just before shooting to fool the goalkeeper.

2. Curving the Ball

  • If you’re holding D while shooting, the ball will curve to the right.
  • Holding A doesn’t cause a curve, but D does.
  • Use curved shots for unexpected passes and tricky goals.

3. Goalkeeper AI Behavior

  • The goalkeeper always throws the ball to the center of their side.
  • As soon as they gain possession, rush the center to intercept their pass.
  • If you’re playing as Nagi, use your air control ability to snatch the ball mid-air.

Scoring Goals

1. Beating the Goalkeeper

The AI goalkeeper moves left and right based on your position. Instead of kicking directly at them, charge your shot, dash to the side, and then shoot. This makes it much harder for them to block your attempt.

2. Shooting Angles

Aim higher than your target when shooting. If you aim straight at the goal, the ball will roll too much and lose speed. Aiming slightly higher ensures a powerful shot that reaches the net faster.

Positioning

1. Good Positioning Wins Games

Always try to be one step ahead of your opponents. Stay near weaker teammates to recover possession quickly if they get tackled. Flanking defenders is effective since they may not see you coming from the sides.

2. Metavision (Camera Zooming)

On PC, zooming out lets you see more of the field. This helps you spot open teammates and avoid sudden tackles. Use it to analyze spacing and plan your next move effectively.

Character Abilities

Isagi (Best All-Rounder)

Strong movement abilities + accurate shots. His footwork dash is great for repositioning and dodging defenders. Shot execution is very forgiving, making him one of the best picks.

Nagi (Air Control Specialist)

Dominates aerial plays by controlling balls mid-air. Best for intercepting goalkeeper passes and setting up volleys.

Shidou (Bicycle Kick Specialist)

Can perform a reverse bicycle kick (shot behind him). To execute it properly, tap shoot lightly while looking up, then activate his move.

You can only use your ultimate once per game, so use it wisely.

For Isagi:

Always use his third move before his fourth move since the fourth ends the ultimate. Ultimates can be used from long distances, so don’t hesitate to shoot from further than expected.
