The Fangsplitter Rod is a special fishing rod in Fisch that players can obtain by completing a series of quests from the Echo NPC. However, reaching this NPC is not easy, as you first need to unlock the Underground Music Venue through several locations and hidden requirements.

Once you find Echo, you must complete five different quests involving Rubber Duckies, mutated fish, Enchant Relics, and Megalodon Hunts. Each task has its own requirements, so preparing the right fishing rods and items can save you a lot of time. Here is how to unlock the Fangsplitter Rod and complete every Echo quest.

To obtain the Fangsplitter Rod, you need to find Echo inside the Underground Music Venue and finish all five quests in his questline. Some tasks are fairly simple, while others require specific fishing rods, mutations, and rare fish.

Before starting, make sure you have access to the required equipment. In particular, the Nocturnal Rod and Dreambreaker Rod are important for several quests. You will also need to reach the Depths and unlock Crystal Cove before you can enter the Underground Music Venue.

Complete Fangsplitter Rod Guide in Fisch

Follow these steps to reach the venue:

  1. Wait for a Mysterious Whirlpool to appear somewhere on the map.
  2. Jump into the whirlpool to enter Vertigo.
  3. Fish inside Vertigo until you obtain the Depths Key.
  4. Use the key to open the Depths Door.
  5. Travel through the Depths until you reach a secret cave at GPS coordinates (1100, -700, 1400).
  6. Enter the cave to reach Crystal Cove.
  7. Find the white crystal inside the area.
  8. Place an Enchanted Chaotic Relic on the white crystal.
  9. Once the secret trapdoor opens at the back, enter it to reach the Underground Music Venue.

After entering the venue, look for Echo near the beginning of the stairs leading toward the stage. He is standing in a corner, so check the area carefully if you cannot find him immediately.

How to Reach the Underground Music Venue in Fisch

The first quest requires you to catch 7 Rubber Duckies using the Nocturnal Rod. This is a straightforward task, but you must use the required rod to make progress.

If you do not own the Nocturnal Rod yet, you can purchase it from the Synth NPC inside the Vertigo Shop for 15,000 C$. After obtaining the rod, head to a suitable fishing location and start catching Rubber Duckies.

The preferred conditions for Rubber Duckies are:

  • Required Rod: Nocturnal Rod
  • Quantity: 7 Rubber Duckies
  • Bait: None
  • Weather: Rain
  • Season: Any
  • Time: Any

Rain is the only specific weather condition listed for this fish. Once you have collected all seven Rubber Duckies with the Nocturnal Rod, return to Echo to complete the first quest.

For the second quest, Echo asks you to catch and return one Shiny or Sparkling Withered Colossal Squid. This objective has multiple requirements because the fish needs the Withered mutation and either the Shiny or Sparkling attribute.

Colossal Squid can be found in the Open Ocean. However, getting the correct mutation and attribute may take several attempts, so prepare the necessary equipment before fishing.

The preferred conditions for Colossal Squid are:

  • Fish: Colossal Squid
  • Location: Open Ocean
  • Bait: Night Shrimp
  • Weather: Foggy
  • Season: Winter
  • Time: Night

To obtain the Withered mutation, you can use one of these items:

  • Decayed Rod: 10% chance to apply Withered.
  • Withered Spear: 25% chance to apply Withered.

After catching a Withered Colossal Squid, take it to the Appraiser. Keep appraising the fish until it receives either the Shiny or Sparkling attribute. Once both requirements are met, return the fish to Echo to finish the quest.

The third quest is much easier than the previous one. Echo simply requires you to stay in the game for 7 consecutive in-game days.

You do not need to catch any special fish or obtain rare mutations for this objective. Just remain in the game and allow the in-game day cycle to progress until you complete the requirement.

You can use a Sundial Totem to speed up the process by changing the time of day. This makes the quest less time-consuming, especially if you want to finish the entire Fangsplitter Rod questline as quickly as possible.

Once the seven-day requirement has been completed, speak with Echo again to move on to the fourth quest.

The fourth quest requires you to catch and return one Shiny or Sparkling Distraught Enchant Relic. Unlike regular fish, Enchant Relics are not limited to a specific fishing region, meaning you can obtain them in different locations across the map.

The most important requirement is the Distraught mutation. To get it, equip the Dreambreaker Rod before fishing for Enchant Relics.

Some recommended locations for farming Enchant Relics include:

  • The Depths
  • Keeper’s Altar

You can also improve your chances by using the Scavenger Enchantment and equipping the Relic Construct companion.

After obtaining a Distraught Enchant Relic, you still need to get either the Shiny or Sparkling attribute. There are two ways to do this:

  • Use a Shiny Totem while fishing to increase your chance of obtaining the Shiny attribute.
  • Visit the Appraiser and keep appraising the relic until it receives the Shiny or Sparkling attribute.

Once the relic has both the Distraught mutation and the required attribute, return it to Echo to complete the fourth quest.

The final quest is the most time-consuming task in the entire questline. You must catch 7 Megalodons perfectly using the Nocturnal Rod.

Megalodon is a Hunt Fish that does not appear regularly. You need to wait for a Megalodon Hunt event or trigger one using a Megalodon Totem. Before heading to Ancient Isle, check the Events Chat section to see whether a Megalodon Hunt is already active.

When the event begins, travel to Ancient Isle and equip your Nocturnal Rod. You can then start fishing for Megalodon under the following conditions:

  • Required Rod: Nocturnal Rod
  • Quantity: 7 Megalodons
  • Bait: Shark Head or Tryhard Worms
  • Weather: Any
  • Season: Any
  • Time: Any

One important thing to consider is that the base Nocturnal Rod may feel too weak for catching Megalodon. Its performance can make this quest more difficult, especially when you need to complete seven perfect catches.

To make the process easier, try obtaining one of these mutations for your Nocturnal Rod:

  • Breezed
  • Blessed
  • Steady

After catching seven Megalodons perfectly with the required rod, return to Echo and complete the final quest. You should then be able to claim the Fangsplitter Rod.

All Echo NPC Quests and How to Complete Them

Some quests in the game can be wrapped up in no time if you’ve got the right gear on hand, while others might test your patience due to specific mutation requirements or infrequent event spawns.

Quest 1: Rubber Ducks Rule the World

Your first adventure kicks off with a simple goal: you’ll need to catch 7 Rubber Duckies using the specially designed Nocturnal Rod. It’s an easy enough task, but remember, you can only make real progress if you’re equipped with that specific rod.

If the Nocturnal Rod isn’t part of your inventory yet, don’t worry! You can grab one from the Synth NPC who hangs out inside the Vertigo Shop for just 15,000 C$. Once you’ve snagged the rod, find a good fishing spot, and start reeling in those Rubber Duckies.

For catching Rubber Duckies, it helps to know what conditions to aim for:

  • Required Rod: Nocturnal Rod
  • Quantity: 7 Rubber Duckies
  • Bait: None
  • Weather: Rain
  • Season: Any
  • Time: Any

Just keep in mind that rain is the only specific weather condition you need to look out for when hunting these quirky fish. After you’ve successfully gathered all seven Rubber Duckies with your trusty Nocturnal Rod, make your way back to Echo to wrap up the first quest!

Quest 2: Glistening Madness

For the second quest, you’re tasked with helping Echo by catching and returning one Shiny or Sparkling Withered Colossal Squid. This isn’t as straightforward as it seems, as you’ll need to ensure that this impressive creature has the Withered mutation along with either the Shiny or Sparkling attribute. It can be a bit of a challenge, but don’t worry—you’re up for it!

When it comes to finding Colossal Squid, your best bet is the vast expanse of the Open Ocean. It’s a great spot to cast your line, but be warned: scoring the right mutation and attribute might require a few attempts. So, be sure to stock up on the right gear and supplies before embarking on your fishing adventure.

If you want to increase your chances of success while fishing for Colossal Squid, aim for these ideal conditions:

  • Fish: Colossal Squid
  • Location: Open Ocean
  • Bait: Night Shrimp
  • Weather: Foggy
  • Season: Winter
  • Time: Night

If you’re looking to snag that coveted Withered mutation for your Colossal Squid, you can make use of one of the following handy items:

  • Decayed Rod: This gives you a 10% chance of applying the Withered mutation.
  • Withered Spear: With this tool, your chances to apply Withered jump to 25%.

Once you’ve snagged that elusive Withered Colossal Squid, it’s time to pay a visit to the Appraiser. There, you’ll want to put the fish through a series of appraisals until it earns either the Shiny or Sparkling trait. Keeping at it until you get one of those attributes can feel a bit tedious, but it’s a necessary step. After you’ve checked all the boxes, make your way back to Echo, and you’ll be all set to wrap up this part of your journey!

Quest 3: Days Turn to Nights, Nights to Days

Getting through the third quest is a lot less daunting than the ones before it! This time around, Echo just wants you to hang out in the game for 7 consecutive in-game days. Sounds easy, right? Just sit back, relax, and let the game take you through its daily cycles while you enjoy some gaming moments.

No need to stress over catching any rare fish or hunting for those tricky mutations for this task! All you’ve got to do is stay in the game and let time carry on. Just let the in-game day and night flow, and you’ll breeze through this requirement without any fuss. Easy peasy!

If you’re eager to speed things up, why not bring out a Sundial Totem? This handy tool lets you manipulate the time of day, which can really help cut down on the wait for those long seven days. It’s especially great if you’re aiming to power through the Fangsplitter Rod questline in record time!

After you’ve successfully passed the seven-day mark, it’s time to have another chat with Echo. This will open the door to your next adventure and lead you right into the fourth quest!

Quest 4: Wingripper Pt. 2

For the fourth quest, you’re going to need to catch and bring back one Shiny or Sparkling Distraught Enchant Relic. Here’s a neat twist: unlike regular fish, these Enchant Relics can be found all over the map, meaning you’re not stuck fishing in just one area. Feel free to explore different fishing spots to snag this unique catch!

First things first, you’ll need to snag that Distraught mutation. It’s essential for your fishing endeavors when you’re on the hunt for Enchant Relics. So, make sure to equip the Dreambreaker Rod before you cast your line out there. Good luck out there, angler!

If you’re looking to farm those Enchant Relics efficiently, I’ve got some great spots for you to check out!

  • The Depths
  • Keeper’s Altar

Feel like boosting your luck? Consider using the Scavenger Enchantment to bump up your odds, and don’t forget to bring along your trusty Relic Construct companion! They can make quite the difference while you’re fishing.

Once you’ve got a Distraught Enchant Relic, there’s still a bit of work to do to secure either the Shiny or Sparkling attribute. Luckily, you have a couple of options to go about this:

  • Use a Shiny Totem while you’re fishing to enhance your chances of pulling in that shiny attribute.
  • Take your relic to the Appraiser and keep appraising until it scores you the Shiny or Sparkling attribute!

After you’ve successfully combined the Distraught mutation with the necessary attribute for your relic, make your way back to Echo. Hand it over to wrap up the fourth quest in this adventure.

Quest 5: The End

The final quest is where things get real and might test your patience a bit. You’ll have to catch 7 Megalodons with absolute precision using the Nocturnal Rod, and trust me, it could take quite a while to get this done.

Now, keep in mind that Megalodon is a form of Hunt Fish that doesn’t just show up whenever you want. It’s essential to keep an eye out for a Megalodon Hunt event—these are your golden opportunities. You can also spark one up yourself using a Megalodon Totem. Just make sure to check the Events Chat section before you set off to Ancient Isle to see if there’s a Megalodon Hunt already in motion.

Once you see that event kick off, head over to Ancient Isle and make sure you’ve got your Nocturnal Rod at the ready. You can start your fishing expedition for Megalodon, but remember, there are some key conditions to meet:

  • Required Rod: Nocturnal Rod
  • Quantity: 7 Megalodons
  • Bait: Shark Head or Tryhard Worms
  • Weather: Any
  • Season: Any
  • Time: Any

One thing to really keep in mind is that the base Nocturnal Rod might feel a bit underwhelming when it comes to actually catching a Megalodon. Its capability can make this quest a bit tougher, especially since you’ve got to snag all seven fish perfectly to complete your task. So, be prepared and make sure you’re ready for the challenge!

To smooth out the journey ahead, consider snagging one of these nifty mutations for your trusty Nocturnal Rod:

  • Breezed
  • Blessed
  • Steady

Once you’ve masterfully caught seven Megalodons using the rod to perfection, it’s time to head back to Echo and wrap up the last quest. Completing this will unlock the chance for you to claim the awesome Fangsplitter Rod.
