The Zodiac Trials update adds a new raid, a powerful weapon, an artifact system, and several quality-of-life improvements to Anime Zero. There are also new redeem codes and changes to progression that can help you strengthen your units more efficiently.

This guide covers the major additions and explains what to prioritize when you first log in.

Anime Zero Zodiac Trials Update Guide – How to enter

Zodiac Trials is a new raid where a wheel determines which Great Beast you face next.

How to enter

  1. Open the Play menu.
  2. Select Zodiac Trials.
  3. Start the raid and prepare to fight the selected boss.

The bosses have a posture bar that you can deplete by parrying their attacks. When their posture breaks, they become stunned and take double damage.

Combat strategy

  • Watch the boss’s attack patterns and look for opportunities to parry.
  • Focus on breaking posture before using your strongest damage skills.
  • Take advantage of the stun window to unleash your high-damage attacks.
  • On higher difficulty, prioritize surviving and learning the boss’s timing before trying to maximize damage.

Raid rewards

Playing Zodiac Trials on Nightmare difficulty is required to obtain the new Frost Heron unit. The raid also includes:

  • Two Frost Heron skins
  • A new title
  • Other raid rewards

New Unit: Frost Heron

Frost Heron is a new unit that uses ice-based attacks and a four-hit basic combo. In PvE, her passive provides protection during the first half of each basic attack swing.

Skills

  • Glacier Ambush: Performs a forward slash, creates an ice field that shatters and launches enemies, then makes Frost Heron vanish.
  • Frostbite Rush: Dashes in a loop toward your aim, cutting through enemies before ending with an ice blast that launches them.
  • Skyfall Blade: Delivers two cuts toward your aim, sends the blade upward, then slams it down to launch enemies.
  • Winter’s Requiem: Performs a draw cut, creates a frost vortex 25 studs ahead, then releases an explosion at her feet that launches nearby enemies.

Awakening

Winter’s Requiem also activates an awakened state for 25 seconds. During this period, her first two skills are replaced:

  • Thousand Snowfall: Replaces Glacier Ambush with a rapid flurry of sword strikes.
  • Frostflake Bloom: Replaces Frostbite Rush with a wide fan-shaped sweep.

Use the ultimate when you can follow up with the awakened skills and hit multiple enemies.

New Artifact System

Artifacts provide another way to improve your units through additional effects and stats.

How to obtain and equip artifacts

  • Earn artifacts by completing Story Trials or Zodiac Trials.
  • Each unit can equip up to four artifacts.
  • Open the Artifacts menu and use Auto Equip to assign your best available pieces.
  • Use Refine to reroll artifact stats and try to improve their effectiveness.

Before equipping an artifact, check its effect and requirements. Some artifacts only activate when the unit has a matching Potential path, so artifact selection and Potential setup should be considered together.

Potential and Build Improvements

Potential now recommends a path for each unit, giving you a starting point when deciding how to build them.

The new Top Players Use feature also shows the setups used by top players for each unit. Use these recommendations as a reference, then adjust your build based on your own artifacts and playstyle.

Training Mode Updates

Training Mode now includes additional tools for testing and comparing builds:

  • DPS meter to measure damage output
  • Target spawner for practice against enemies
  • Artifact and Potential testing support

Use Training Mode to compare rotations and check whether a new artifact or Potential path actually improves your damage.

Progression and Resource Changes

Several progression systems have been made easier to understand and less expensive.

  • Awakening older units now costs fewer coins.
  • Players who previously paid the higher awakening cost receive the difference back.
  • The Evolve screen now identifies missing requirements.
  • Materials show where they can be obtained.
  • Locked ultimates indicate when evolution is required.
  • Items such as gimps, food, and fortune now include descriptions explaining their effects.

If you have an older unit waiting to be awakened, revisit its requirements and check whether the reduced cost makes it worth upgrading.

Events and Summoning

Weekend events

New weekend events offer double coins and double material drops. These are useful opportunities to farm resources for evolution and weapon progression.

Weekly rate-up banner

A weekly rate-up banner increases the summon chance for one featured unit. The new calendar lets you check upcoming banners and plan when to spend your summons.

Other summoning changes

  • Batch summons are back to 100 summons at a time.
  • Bulk trade rolls are also back to 100 at a time.
  • A new unit storage window makes it easier to manage your collection.

Additional Unit and Interface Changes

The update also includes several smaller improvements:

  • Absolute Illusion’s first and second awakened skills can now be aimed.
  • Absolute Illusion’s third awakened skill is now a full cut.
  • The Crimson Coffin skin now provides stat bonuses.
  • Boss introductions skip automatically after you have seen them once.
  • The Codes menu now displays available codes.
  • The player list works consistently across devices.
  • A UI scale slider lets you adjust interface size.
  • A lobby card previews upcoming content.

New Anime Zero Codes

Redeem these codes before starting your farming sessions:

  • Zodiac: 25 Lucky Spins, 25 Trade Crystals, 500 Gimps, 50,000 Coins, and food.
  • Artifacts: 100 Relic Shards and 25 Tempering Dust.

Enter the codes through the in-game Codes menu and claim the rewards.

What to Do First

For the most efficient start to the update:

  1. Redeem Zodiac and Artifacts for the free resources.
  2. Play Zodiac Trials and practice parrying to break boss posture.
  3. Farm Nightmare difficulty if you want to unlock Frost Heron.
  4. Equip artifacts and check that their effects match your unit’s Potential path.
  5. Test your builds in Training Mode using the DPS meter.
  6. Save resources for useful rate-up banners and take advantage of double-drop weekends.

With the new raid, artifacts, and build-testing tools, this update gives you several ways to improve your roster while making progression easier to manage.
