The Potential system in Anime Zero replaces the previous Skill Tree and introduces new ways to improve your units. With the level cap increased to 200, choosing the right paths and upgrades is important if you want to get the most damage out of your team. Each weapon can now specialize in different paths, allowing you to build around Echo, Burn, or Swap depending on its role.

This guide explains the recommended Potential paths and nodes for Y Zero, Astral Blossom, and other weapons. The main setup focuses on Echo Trigger for your primary damage dealer, Power Rush for your secondary unit, and Burn Blast for weapons built around Burn damage.

Before diving into upgrades, make sure to consider your weapon combinations and how they can support your overall strategy.

Before spending your Potential points, there are two important restrictions to understand. Each weapon can only follow one specialization path at a time, meaning you cannot combine two exclusive paths on the same weapon. However, your primary and secondary weapons can use different specializations, allowing you to create combinations that support your overall damage rotation.

You should also pay attention to nodes marked as Pick One. These upgrades are mutually exclusive, so selecting one option will permanently block the alternative within that specialization. Your choice can also affect which upgrades become available later, making it important to plan your route before investing points.

Important Rules Before Upgrading Potential

Before you dive into using those Potential points, it’s essential to know a couple of key rules that will make your experience smoother. First up, remember that each weapon is only able to follow one specialization path at a time. This means you can’t mix and match two exclusive paths for any single weapon—sorry, no dual wielding of specializations here! But don’t worry, as you have the freedom to assign different specializations to your primary and secondary weapons. This opens up fantastic opportunities to mix things up and create unique combinations that enhance your overall damage rotation, so get creative!

Keep an eye out for nodes labeled as Pick One; they’re quite significant. These upgrades are mutually exclusive, which means if you decide to pick one option, the other will be completely unavailable to you in that specialization. It’s more than just a simple choice—what you pick can influence the upgrades that become accessible to you later down the line. So before you start spending those hard-earned points, take a moment to carefully plan your path to make the most of your upgrades.

As you carve your way through the game, here are some combinations we highly recommend to set you up for success:

  • Y Zero: Pair this with Echo Trigger for skill-based damage rotations that really pack a punch.
  • Astral Blossom: Switch it up with Power Rush to boost your secondary weapon’s damage and lend a hand to your main unit.
  • Burn-focused weapons: Light things up with Burn and complement it with Burn Blast for some wicked consecutive damage detonations.

Best Echo Potential Path for Y Zero

1. Start by unlocking the main Echo power and investing in Loud Echo. The basic Echo effect stores 15% of the damage dealt by an eligible skill on its target. After the final hit, the stored damage normally activates after 1.2 seconds, giving you an additional source of damage without requiring another attack.

Loud Echo increases the stored damage percentage from 15% to 18% when fully upgraded. This should be your first priority because every additional Echo upgrade benefits from having a larger amount of damage stored.

1. Echo and Loud Echo

3. After upgrading the main Echo damage nodes, invest in Mix It Up and Quick Echo. These upgrades improve your skill rotation by rewarding you for using different abilities and helping you recover cooldowns faster. They are especially useful when playing Y Zero as your primary damage dealer.

Their effects include:

  • Mix It Up: Provides up to 7% additional damage to a skill when its first hit lands on an enemy that still has an Echo from a different skill.
  • Quick Echo: Reduces the matching skill’s cooldown by up to 0.9 seconds when its Echo activates. This effect has a six-second activation cooldown.

Both upgrades work well with Echo Trigger because they encourage you to alternate between different skills instead of repeatedly using the same ability.

4. Once you meet its requirements, unlock Echo Storm as another upgrade for your Echo setup. This node activates when you hit the same enemy with two different skills within four seconds, marking that target for five seconds. Your next basic attack against the marked enemy activates its remaining Echoes and reduces your last skill’s cooldown by 0.5 seconds.

Echo Storm can activate once every eight seconds. It is a useful addition to the build because it gives you another way to trigger stored damage while also providing a small cooldown reduction.

2. Echo Trigger and Early Echo

When you hit that crucial Pick One area, go for Echo Trigger rather than Double Echo. This choice will tweak how your stored damage activates, resulting in a much more powerful outcome when utilized properly. Plus, after you opt for Echo Trigger, don’t forget to invest in Early Echo—this gem increases the damage of triggered Echoes by an impressive 70%, which is quite the boon!

This combination is recommended for some solid reasons. By choosing Echo Trigger, you not only enhance the mechanics of your damage but also open doors to better damage capabilities. It’s a strategic move that can significantly elevate your performance in the game, ensuring you’re always at the top of your game!

  • Loud Echo has the exciting ability to retain 18% of the damage from your eligible skills, which means more bang for your buck!
  • With Echo Trigger, that stored damage gets a hefty boost of 70%, making it even more potent.
  • The grand finale of your triggered Echo can unleash damage that equals a whopping 30.6% of your original skill damage. Talk about an epic finisher!
  • If you’re using Double Echo instead, you’ll still achieve a respectable total of 23.4% damage, which is nothing to scoff at.

Take Y Zero’s skills for instance; if one of them can hit for 10,000 damage, getting your Echo Trigger fully upgraded can unleash an extra 3,060 damage stirred from the echoes. If you go for the Double Echo option, you’d be looking at a solid 2,340 damage instead. Every little bit counts in battle, right?

But let’s not forget, timing is essential when it comes to using Echo Trigger correctly. It lets your stored Echoes hang out and wait for a period of three seconds, which is pretty handy. The moment you land an initial hit from another skill, those waiting Echoes will spring into action on the targeted enemy. Just keep in mind that there’s a three-second cooldown for each target, so you’ll want to transition from one skill to the next before those Echoes run out of time.

3. Mix It Up and Quick Echo

Once you’ve done a bit of leveling on your main Echo damage nodes, it’s a fantastic idea to throw some investment into both Mix It Up and Quick Echo. These upgrades will really enhance your skill rotation, rewarding you for mixing things up a bit while also speeding up your cooldown recovery. They’re particularly beneficial when you’ve got Y Zero as your main damage dealer, optimizing your gameplay.

Here’s a rundown of what these upgrades offer:

  • Mix It Up: This upgrade gifts you with up to 7% bonus damage on a skill when its first strike lands on an enemy still affected by an Echo from another skill. A nice touch, isn’t it?
  • Quick Echo: You get to shave off up to 0.9 seconds from that matching skill’s cooldown whenever its Echo activates, though keep in mind this effect has a six-second cooldown before you can trigger it again.

Both of these upgrades work wonderfully alongside Echo Trigger because they motivate you to switch things up and use a variety of skills rather than relying on just one ability over and over again.

4. Echo Storm

Once you’ve fulfilled its prerequisites, you can unlock Echo Storm as an exciting upgrade for your Echo configuration. This node springs into action when you strike the same foe with two different abilities within a short span of four seconds, marking that target for a period of five seconds. The beauty of this is your next basic attack on that marked enemy unleashes its stored Echoes and takes a neat 0.5 seconds off the cooldown of your last skill.

Echo Storm has the potential to activate once every eight seconds, making it a fantastic part of your build. It’s not just about adding another layer of damage; it also helps by offering a slight reduction in cooldowns, which can really enhance your gameplay.

Pathway for Echo recommended:

  1. First, unlock Echo.
  2. Next, max out Loud Echo.
  3. Then, choose Echo Trigger.
  4. Max out Early Echo afterward.
  5. Upgrade both Mix It Up and Quick Echo.
  6. Finally, make sure to unlock Echo Storm whenever it becomes available.

This pathway is perfect for Y Zero if your goal is to make the most of your skills and maximize the damage output from Echo. You’ll be dancing through battles with a flurry of abilities!

Best Burn Potential Path for Damage Weapons

1. Start by unlocking the main Burn power and maxing Hotter Burn. Every hit applies Burn damage that continues over three seconds. Hotter Burn increases the base Burn damage from 8% to 11% of the original hit’s damage when fully upgraded.

This upgrade is important because the entire specialization depends on applying Burn consistently. Increasing its base damage gives you more damage to work with when using Burn Blast later in the build.

1. Burn and Hotter Burn

To kick things off, make sure you unlock the primary Burn ability and then focus on maxing out Hotter Burn. What’s great about this choice is that every hit you land inflicts Burn damage that lingers for a solid three seconds. Once you fully upgrade Hotter Burn, it boosts the base Burn damage from 8% to a sweet 11% of the damage from your original hit. Trust me, this investment pays dividends!

3. After completing the main Burn Blast upgrades, work toward unlocking Inferno. This node rewards you for maintaining Burn on an enemy over an extended period. You need to keep the target burning for six seconds without allowing more than three seconds to pass between new Burn applications.

Once Inferno activates, your attacks against that enemy deal 4% additional damage while it remains burning and for four seconds after the Burn effect ends. This makes it useful for longer fights where you can consistently maintain the effect.

Longer Burn duration also helps keep your damage bonuses active. As a result, maintaining regular skill usage is important if you want to benefit from Inferno throughout a fight.

2. Burn Blast and Mega Blast

4. After securing the main damage upgrades, you can invest in Longer Burn and Burn Jump. These nodes provide additional value by extending Burn-related effects and helping spread damage between nearby enemies.

Burn Jump is particularly useful when fighting groups. At maximum rank, an enemy defeated while burning transfers 50% of its remaining Burn damage to up to three nearby enemies within eight studs. The transferred damage is then dealt over 1.5 seconds.

Next up, after you’ve settled on Burn Blast, turn your attention towards maxing out Mega Blast. When you get this upgrade to its maximum rank, the boom from your detonations becomes even more impressive, dealing a whopping 100% extra damage based on how much Burn damage is still hanging around on the target. That’s seriously some powerful stuff to harness!

Recommended Burn path:

  1. Unlock Burn.
  2. Max Hotter Burn.
  3. Select Burn Blast.
  4. Max Mega Blast.
  5. Unlock Inferno when its requirements are met.
  6. Invest in Longer Burn and Burn Jump.

For this setup, the most important part of combat is keeping enemies affected by Burn and using skills frequently enough to detonate the remaining damage. This is particularly effective against enemies that survive multiple skill attacks.

This is the beauty of Burn Blast: it pairs perfectly with a more aggressive playstyle. By consistently applying Burn, you create great opportunities to trigger another skill that can detonate the remaining damage on your target before the Burn effect wears off. It’s all about timing and keeping that damage flowing!

3. Inferno

Once you’ve wrapped up the key upgrades for Burn Blast, your next goal should be unlocking Inferno. This node is like a reward for your perseverance since it gives you a boost when you manage to keep Burn active on an enemy for a longer duration. You’ve got to keep that target burning for a full six seconds without letting more than three seconds slip by between fresh Burn applications. It’s a bit of a dance, but worth it!

Upon activating Inferno, here’s the cool part: your attacks on that enemy will deal an extra 4% damage as long as they remain burning, and even for four seconds after the Burn effect fizzles out. This adds a nice touch for those longer encounters where you can effectively maintain that Burn status. It’s like having a secret weapon in your arsenal!

Swap is designed for players who frequently switch between their primary and secondary units during combat. Instead of keeping your secondary weapon active for the entire fight, you can bring it out to use its abilities, activate a temporary damage boost, and then return to your main damage dealer. For this build, Astral Blossom uses Power Rush while Y Zero remains your primary weapon.

To use this specialization, you need at least two different units equipped. Switching to your secondary unit prepares the Swap In effect, but the damage bonus does not activate immediately. You must land a skill hit within the activation window to trigger the boost.

The base Swap In effect provides 22% additional damage for six seconds and can activate once every 10 seconds.

4. Longer Burn and Burn Jump

Once you’ve nailed the key damage upgrades, don’t forget to check out Longer Burn and Burn Jump. These nodes are fantastic because they enhance everything Burn-related and even help spread your damage across nearby enemies. It’s all about maximizing your impact and keeping the fun rolling with these additional boosts!

When you’re battling it out against a crowd, using Burn Jump can be a game changer. At its peak level, if you take down an enemy who’s still burning, they’ll pass along a massive 50% of their remaining Burn damage to up to three other foes nearby—within an eight-stud radius. This transferred damage then spreads out over the next 1.5 seconds, making it a strategic move to wipe out multiple enemies at once.

Here’s a fantastic Burn path to follow:

  1. Kick things off by unlocking Burn.
  2. Max out Hotter Burn to really crank up the heat.
  3. Choose Burn Blast for explosive encounters.
  4. Don’t forget to max Mega Blast for even more devastation.
  5. Once you’ve met the requirements, unlock Inferno to add some serious power.
  6. Finally, put some points into Longer Burn and Burn Jump to increase your survival and damage potential.

In this setup, the key to success in battles is to keep your enemies burning and make sure you’re using your skills often enough to trigger those delayed explosions. It works especially well against foes that manage to endure multiple attacks. So keep the pressure on while you watch them go down!

Best Swap Potential Path for Astral Blossom

The Swap specialization is perfect for those who like to dance between their primary and secondary units during fights. Instead of just hanging onto your secondary weapon throughout the whole battle, you can pull it out to unleash its unique abilities, snag a quick damage boost, then switch back to your main weapon for maximum impact. In this build, you’ll have Astral Blossom using Power Rush while Y Zero stays as your go-to damage dealer.
To fully utilize this specialization, make sure you’ve got at least two different units equipped. When you switch to your secondary unit, it sets up the Swap In effect; however, keep in mind that the damage bonus won’t kick in right away. You’ll need to land a skill hit during the activation window to activate that extra boost.

1. Start by unlocking Swap In and maxing Quick Reset. This upgrade reduces the longest skill cooldown of the character you switched away from by three seconds when the Swap In boost activates.

For example, when switching from Y Zero to Astral Blossom, activating the boost will reduce the longest cooldown on Y Zero. This helps your primary weapon recover an important ability while you are using your secondary unit.

Quick Reset is especially useful for rotations that involve briefly switching to Astral Blossom before returning to Y Zero for another damage window.

1. Swap In and Quick Reset

2. At the Pick One section, choose Power Rush instead of Long Rush. Power Rush focuses on providing a stronger damage boost over a shorter period, making it a better option for players who want to use their secondary unit and quickly return to their main weapon.

After selecting Power Rush, max Bigger Rush to increase the damage bonus to 55% for four seconds.

The difference between the two options is their duration and damage focus:

  • Power Rush: Provides up to 55% additional damage for four seconds with Bigger Rush.
  • Long Rush: Offers a 20% damage bonus that can last up to 15 seconds with its upgrades and extensions.

Power Rush is the recommended choice for the Astral Blossom setup because the goal is to activate its damage boost, use the secondary unit’s abilities, and switch back to Y Zero.

3. Once Quick Reset and Bigger Rush are upgraded, invest in Ready Up and Safe Entry while working toward the final Swap node. These upgrades make it easier to activate your temporary damage boost and provide some protection during the switching process.

Their effects are:

  • Ready Up: Extends the window for landing the skill hit that activates the Swap In boost by up to seven seconds.
  • Safe Entry: Provides up to 16% damage reduction for three seconds after the boost activates.

Ready Up is particularly important if your secondary unit needs more time to position itself before landing a skill. Safe Entry is useful when switching during combat because it gives you a short defensive bonus.

Using Quick Reset is a fantastic strategy, especially when you’re looking to take a brief detour into Astral Blossom before jumping back to Y Zero for another potent damage opportunity. This rotation is all about timing and being able to seamlessly flow between your skills!

2. Power Rush and Bigger Rush

4. Pass It On is the main objective of this Swap build. To unlock it, you need to select a Pick One specialization and invest 15 points into Swap. Once available, this node allows you to transfer a damage bonus to the character that enters the field after your current Swap boost activates.

To trigger Pass It On, follow these conditions:

  1. Activate your Swap In damage boost.
  2. Land a hit while the boost is active.
  3. Switch to another character before the boost expires or within two seconds after it ends.
  4. Your incoming character receives 12% additional damage for three seconds.

Keep in mind that the 55% Power Rush bonus and the 12% Pass It On bonus are separate effects. Power Rush benefits the unit using the active boost, while Pass It On gives the incoming character its own damage bonus.

For the recommended setup, use Y Zero as your main weapon and Astral Blossom as your secondary unit. Switch to Astral Blossom, land a skill hit to activate Swap In, and then return to Y Zero within the required window. Your main weapon can then take advantage of the Pass It On damage bonus.

Recommended Swap path:

  1. Unlock Swap In.
  2. Max Quick Reset.
  3. Select Power Rush.
  4. Max Bigger Rush.
  5. Upgrade Ready Up and Safe Entry.
  6. Invest 15 points in Swap.
  7. Unlock Pass It On.

This route gives Astral Blossom a strong temporary damage boost while also helping Y Zero recover its cooldowns and gain additional damage when returning to the field.

When weighing your options, keep in mind the main differences revolve around how long each lasts and where their damage is aimed. Understanding these elements can significantly influence your approach to combat and lead to even better performance on the field.

If you have extra Potential points available, Combo Power is another upgrade worth considering. It rewards you for completing a basic attack combo before using a skill, increasing the damage of your next ability. The bonus starts at 8%, making it a useful shared damage improvement for builds that regularly mix basic attacks and skills.

Try to complete your basic attack combo before using your important damage abilities. This allows you to benefit from Combo Power without making major changes to your existing Echo, Burn, or Swap rotations.

For maximum damage with the recommended Y Zero and Astral Blossom combination, you should use different Potential specializations on each weapon. Echo Trigger is the main damage path for Y Zero, while Astral Blossom benefits from Power Rush and Pass It On. Burn Blast is better suited for another weapon that can consistently apply and detonate Burn effects.

Here is the recommended setup:

  • Y Zero: Echo, Loud Echo, Echo Trigger, Early Echo, Mix It Up, Quick Echo, and Echo Storm.
  • Astral Blossom: Swap In, Quick Reset, Power Rush, Bigger Rush, Ready Up, Safe Entry, and Pass It On.
  • Burn-focused weapon: Burn, Hotter Burn, Burn Blast, Mega Blast, Inferno, Longer Burn, and Burn Jump.
  • Extra damage upgrade: Combo Power, especially if you regularly complete basic attack combos.

Remember that these builds rely on activating their conditions correctly. With Echo, alternate between different skills to trigger stored damage. With Burn, keep applying the effect and detonate it before the remaining damage disappears. With Swap, land a skill hit before switching back to your primary weapon. Using the right paths is only part of the setup. You also need to follow the correct combat rotation to get the full value from each Potential upgrade.

3. Ready Up and Safe Entry

After you’ve given Quick Reset and Bigger Rush a good upgrade, it’s time to turn your focus toward Ready Up and Safe Entry as you work your way to the final Swap node. These enhancements not only make unleashing your temporary damage boost smoother but also add a measure of protection while you maneuver through the switch. Trust me, these will take your gameplay to the next level!
Here are the effects you can expect from these upgrades:

  • Ready Up: This nifty upgrade extends the time you have to make that crucial skill hit that triggers the Swap In boost, giving you up to seven extra seconds to land it just right.
  • Safe Entry: Once activated, this upgrade provides a snazzy 16% damage reduction for three seconds, keeping you a bit safer right after you boost.

Make sure to prioritize Ready Up, especially if your secondary unit takes a bit longer to get into position before it deploys its skill. Meanwhile, Safe Entry can seriously come in handy during combat scenarios, offering a brief but valuable defensive bonus right when you’re making those swift changes.

4. Pass It On

When it comes to mastering your Playstyle with the Swap build, embracing the “Pass It On” strategy is essential. To get this beauty unlocked, you’ll first need to select a Pick One specialization. After that, don’t forget to pour 15 points into Swap. Once you’ve activated this node, you’ll enjoy the benefit of transferring a damage boost to your next character who steps into the arena after your current Swap ability kicks in.

Now, if you want to get that Pass It On effect going, there are a few important steps you need to keep in mind:

  1. Start by activating your Swap In damage boost.
  2. Make sure to land a hit while that boost is still active.
  3. Before the boost runs its course or within two seconds after it wears off, switch to another character.
  4. When your new character arrives, they’ll enjoy a lovely 12% additional damage boost for the next three seconds.

It’s good to remember that the 55% Power Rush bonus and the lovely 12% Pass It On bonus operate independently. While Power Rush lends a hand to the unit currently basking in the glow of an active boost, the Pass It On effect extends a special welcome to the incoming character, ensuring that they also receive a damage boost all their own.

For an ideal setup, it’s recommended to stick with Y Zero as your lead weapon, paired with Astral Blossom as your trusty secondary unit. Get in there with Astral Blossom, land a skill hit to trigger the magical Swap In, and then time your switch back to Y Zero just right. This way, your main weapon can soak up that sweet Pass It On damage bonus and unleash some serious havoc.

Recommended Swap path:

  1. Get the Swap In ability unlocked.
  2. Max out your Quick Reset ability for quicker recoveries.
  3. Select the Power Rush skill to ramp things up.
  4. Enhance your Bigger Rush ability to pack a heavier punch.
  5. Don’t forget to upgrade Ready Up and Safe Entry for much smoother gameplay.
  6. Put 15 points into the Swap to enhance its effectiveness.
  7. Unlock the Pass It On ability to maximize your team synergy.

This strategy arms Astral Blossom with a significant temporary boost to damage, and while it’s doing its thing, it also aids Y Zero in recharging its cooldowns. This way, when it’s time for Y Zero to jump back into action, it’s ready to unleash even more damage on the battlefield!

Additional Potential Upgrade: Combo Power

If you’ve got some extra Potential points hanging around, definitely think about investing in Combo Power. This upgrade gives you a sweet little reward for stringing together basic attack combos before unleashing a skill. What’s cool is it starts at an 8% increase, meaning it gives a nice little nudge to your overall damage, especially for builds that love to blend basic attacks with awesome skills.

To really maximize your output, make sure to finish off your basic attack combo before diving into those heavy-hitting abilities. By doing this, you’ll get to enjoy the benefits of Combo Power without needing to completely overhaul your cozy Echo, Burn, or Swap rotation. It’s a simple tweak that can lead to some serious results!

Best Anime Zero Potential Build Summary

For the ultimate damage potential when rocking the Y Zero and Astral Blossom duo, consider equipping different Potential specializations on each of your weapons. For Y Zero, go down the Echo Trigger path for your main source of damage, while letting Astral Blossom thrive with Power Rush and Pass It On. Don’t forget about Burn Blast; it’s better off on a different weapon dedicated to applying and detonating Burn effects consistently.

Here’s a setup that I suggest for this combination:

  • Y Zero: You’ve got a fantastic lineup here! Echo, Loud Echo, Echo Trigger, Early Echo, Mix It Up, Quick Echo, and Echo Storm are all part of this intriguing set.
  • Astral Blossom: This build allows you to shine! Say hello to Swap In, Quick Reset, Power Rush, Bigger Rush, Ready Up, Safe Entry, and Pass It On to really take your gameplay to the next level.

It’s super important to remember that these builds thrive on activating their specific conditions just right! For instance, with Echo, make sure to mix things up with various skills to unleash stored damage effectively. When rocking the Burn strategy, consistently apply the burning effect and be ready to detonate it before that sweet damage fades away. With the Swap strategy, ensure you land a well-timed skill hit before switching back to your primary weapon. But hold on, using the right build is just one piece of the puzzle. Following the ideal combat rotation is crucial to truly maximize the benefits from each Potential upgrade you’ve stacked!
