Command An Army is a strategy game where players summon, upgrade, and evolve units to engage in real-time combat. With over 15 unique units available, each having a specific star cost and attack style, players must strategically select their troops for battle. For instance, cavalry units can charge foes while other units wield melee weapons or ranged attacks.
Success hinges not just on having numerous units but on understanding which troops provide the most battle utility. This tier list ranks the various units, helping players pinpoint the best options in Command An Army.
Before setting off on the battlefield, gather Gems to summon troops from the gacha banner. Completing quests and battles will help in accumulating these crucial resources.
Units are obtained from gacha banners in Command An Army. You can summon a troop by using 50 Gems, the chief in-game currency obtained by completing quests, finishing battles, and redeeming codes.
Ranking all units in Command An Army
Each unit possesses a star rating that determines your capacity to equip them based on your equipped star limit. For example, a star limit of five allows you to equip a Samurai (4 star) and an Archer (1 star). You cannot exceed the limit with additional troops.
In this tier list, each unit has been placed in the S, A, B, or C tier depending on their battle utility.
This tier features the strongest troops, excelling at breaking open the enemy’s line of defense and sowing chaos among the ranks. Command them tactically to improve your chances of winning battles.
Unit Reason Khorchin Mongolian-inspired shock cavalry troop that does massive charge damage Laestragoniyan A giant melee unit whose attacks knock back foes and strike multiple enemies Flame Archer Shoots fire arrows that can ignore enemies’ shields. Lancer Possesses immense charge damage Samurai Excels at breaking shields and has a fast attack rate. Berserker Goes berserk while charging and often breaks through enemy lines Mace Does immense damage and breaks shields
Compared to the top tier, units in this tier are slightly less effective because of their limitations. Immortals have no shields, Spartans have slow attacks, and Rapiers cannot parry Mace enemies effectively. Nonetheless, these troops can be positioned and ordered strategically to overwhelm enemies.
| Unit | Reason |
| Khorchin | Mongolian-inspired shock cavalry troop that does massive charge damage |
| Laestragoniyan | A giant melee unit whose attacks knock back foes and strike multiple enemies |
| Flame Archer | Shoots fire arrows that can ignore enemies’ shields. |
| Lancer | Possesses immense charge damage |
| Samurai | Excels at breaking shields and has a fast attack rate. |
| Berserker | Goes berserk while charging and often breaks through enemy lines |
| Mace | Does immense damage and breaks shields |
All units in this tier are situationally useful. Ranged troops like Crossbowmen and Longbowmen require infantry next to them, so that they can prevent enemy horses from reaching them. They must also be positioned on hills to improve their range.
| Unit | Reason |
| Crossbowman | A ranged troop, usually best for attacking. |
| Javelineer | Has a low range and becomes easy prey for cavalry. |
| Mercenary | With no shield, you cannot rely on it as a frontline troop. |
| Longbowman | Must be positioned at high altitudes for maximum effectiveness. |
| Elite Javelineer | An evolved version of Javelineer, although Longbowmen are better options for ranged fights. |
| Elite Halberdier | An evolved version of Halberdier. |
The last tier consists of units that are only useful for evolution or provide no real value in battles. They are vastly outmatched by other troops.
| Unit | Reason |
| Morningstar | Elite Mace units whose attacks do massive damage |
| Nokor | Decent attack speed and damage but possesses low health |
| Bataar | An infantry unit that does massive rush damage compared to Mace units, but they are weak to cavalry |
| Phalangite | Elite spearman, useful mostly for defending castle entry points |
| Knight | A shock unit with high DPS and decent health |
| Immortal | Swift and powerful, but it has no shield. Becomes easy prey for archers. |
| Rapier Knight | A stronger, evolved version of Rapier. |
| Rapier | Parries attacks but is crushed by Mace enemies. |
| Scout Rider | Requires a low number of stars. Perfect for striking the flanks of enemy formations. |
| Sentinel | Slow yet armored. Extremely capable in defending lines. |
| Shieldman | Basic yet effective. Level up this troop and make them defend their ranged allies. |
| Cavalryman |
Possesses a slightly less effective charge than Lancer.
|
| Spartan |
Has decent damage and health, but struggles against shield enemies.

Unit Reason Archer Useful for evolution Pikeman Useful for evolution Spearman Too basic Halberdier Useful for evolution Spear Militia Too basic Squire Too basic
Every unit begins at Level 1 in Command An Army. It gains experience points through battles, and with each level up, all its stats are increased.
Ascension is another mechanic used to enhance a troop. To perform an Ascension, merge a unit with its duplicate of the same Ascension level. An Ascension 1 Archer cannot be merged with a duplicate of Ascension 2.
Most of the units can be evolved into stronger troops after reaching Level 20. An evolved troop has better stats than its previous version, although its experience level is reset and its star level is changed. For instance, the Rapier (2 star) evolves into Rapier Knight (3 star) and gets better stats.
