The September 18, 2026 Lore Event has arrived in Creatures of Sonaria, bringing a new creature, a redesigned Tohukosh, a new event minigame, and a series of quests centered around the mysterious Sotharkuz.
To unlock Sotharkuz, you’ll need to complete several event objectives involving Corrupted Splinters, Memory Crystals, friendly calls, Warden Shrines, and a den purification ritual.
The event also gives you ways to earn the event currency needed to obtain Sotharkuz and other rewards.
How to Get Sotharkuz in Creatures of Sonaria
To start the Sotharkuz questline, find and speak to Rini.
The main objectives shown for the creature are:
- Purify 3 Corrupted Splinters at your den
- Perform 3 Friendly Calls
- Donate Memory Crystals to a Warden Shrine 3 times
- Complete the required event objectives
You’ll also need access to a den, so make sure you’re using an adult male creature capable of creating one.
Step 1: Find Rini
Rini can be found inside the mountain cave area.
The location can be a little confusing because the entrance is underground.
From the Mesa area, head toward the mountain and look for the cave entrance. Follow the underground path until you reach the area containing Rini.
Once you find her, interact with Rini to begin the quest.
The route can be summarized as:
Mesa → Mountain → Underground Cave → Follow the Cave → Rini
Make sure you activate the quest before spending time collecting the required materials.
Step 2: Create a Den
One of the unusual requirements of this event is that you need to use a den for the purification objective.
You’ll need an adult male creature to create the den.
Once your den is available, you can begin the Corrupted Splinter purification process.
This is important because simply collecting the Splinters isn’t enough. They need to be taken back to the den and purified.
Step 3: Find Corrupted Splinters
The event asks you to purify three Corrupted Splinters.
After obtaining a Splinter, take it back to your den and interact with the purification area.
You’ll need several materials to complete the ritual.
The materials shown in the guide include:
- Corrupted Splinter
- Serum
- Stone
- Crystal
Place the required materials into the purification setup and complete the ritual.
Repeat this process until you have purified all three Splinters.
Where to Find Serum
Serum can be found around the Redwood area.
The guide demonstrates collecting it from the environment around the mushroom-like resources.
If you’re missing Serum, Redwood is one of the areas worth checking first.
Where to Find Stone
Stone and boulders can be collected from the environment.
Simply gather the required amount and bring it back to your den.
This is one of the easier materials required for the purification ritual.
Where to Find Crystal
Crystal can be found in several areas of the map.
The guide points to:
- Volcano
- Jungle
- Mountain
- Snowy areas
Some Jungle crystal locations may have interaction issues depending on the creature you’re using.
If you have trouble collecting Crystal in the Jungle, try looking around the mountain or snowy regions instead.
These locations can be a more reliable alternative.
Step 4: Purify Three Corrupted Splinters
Once you’ve gathered the required materials, return to your den.
Place the Corrupted Splinter into the purification area and provide the required materials.
Complete the purification process.
You need to do this three times for the Sotharkuz quest.
Keep in mind that this objective requires the actual purification process, not simply collecting three Splinters.
Step 5: Perform Three Friendly Calls
Another part of the quest requires you to perform three Friendly Calls.
The guide indicates that the Friendly Call has a 10-minute cooldown, meaning completing all three can take around 30 minutes if you use them as soon as they’re available.
When you’re near the relevant event creature, use the Friendly Call and allow it to count toward the quest.
Repeat it three times.
Because of the cooldown, it’s worth starting this requirement early instead of leaving it until the end.
Step 6: Collect Memory Crystals
The event also introduces Memory Crystals connected to Sotharkuz’s lore.
The guide shows that there are 10 Memory Crystals to find around the map.
These aren’t just ordinary collectibles. They reveal pieces of Sotharkuz’s mysterious history.
After collecting a set of crystals, you’ll receive a short piece of text describing Sotharkuz’s memories.
The memories provide additional information about the creature’s origins and the circumstances surrounding its creation.
Step 7: Donate to a Warden Shrine
Once you have the required item, take it to a Warden Shrine.
The quest requires you to donate to a Warden Shrine three times.
You can use Warden areas found throughout the map, so you don’t necessarily need to travel to one specific shrine every time.
The guide demonstrates using a carcass for the donation.
The exact amount of meat isn’t the important part for the quest. What matters is completing the donation interaction three times.
Warden Shrine Tip
Because Warden locations can be found in different regions, use whichever shrine is most convenient during your normal exploration.
There’s no reason to make a long trip if another Warden Shrine is closer.
Sotharkuz Event Currency
The Lore Event also includes event currency that can be earned through the new activities.
One of the easiest ways to build up currency is by completing the event quests.
You can also earn additional currency by:
- Finding Memory Crystals
- Completing the Sotharkuz-related objectives
- Performing Friendly Calls near the event creature
- Participating in the event activities
The Friendly Call method can provide additional event currency, so it’s worth using it whenever the cooldown becomes available.
Sotharkuz Event Shop
Once you’ve earned enough event currency, visit the event shop.
Sotharkuz can be obtained through the event shop after completing the required objectives and collecting enough currency.
The event shop also contains other event-related rewards and materials.
The guide also mentions that some previously featured creatures or event rewards can appear in the shop during the event, so check the shop regularly rather than assuming it only contains Sotharkuz.
Sotharkuz Creature Details
After unlocking Sotharkuz, you can inspect its stats and abilities.
Sotharkuz is a Tier 4 land carnivore.
It has a salamander-like appearance, although its design is considerably darker and more monstrous.
Sotharkuz Stats
The stats shown in the guide are:
| Stat | Value |
|---|---|
| Health | 6,000 |
| Damage | 300 |
| Stamina | 80 |
| Growth Time | 1 hour |
| Weight | 6,000 lb |
| Sprint Speed | 87 |
| Walk Speed | 40 |
| Tier | 4 |
| Type | Land |
| Diet | Carnivore |
| Gender | Male |
The creature also has a collection of defensive and offensive passives.
Sotharkuz Passives
The passives shown during the showcase include:
- Silent Hunter
- First Strike
- Short Blood Maker
- Will to Live
- Necro Poison Trail
- Block Radiation
- Serrated
- Breath Resistant
- Heat Observer
- Block Bleed
- Necro Poison Attack
- Block Disease
- Wind Shredder
Some of these effects provide resistance against specific status effects, while others improve Sotharkuz’s offensive capabilities.
Sotharkuz Abilities
Sotharkuz comes with several interesting abilities.
The showcase mentions:
- Mass
- Ambush
- Invisibility
- Lick Mark
- Dead Mouse
Invisibility
Sotharkuz can temporarily disappear from sight, making the creature useful for surprise attacks and escaping dangerous situations.
The invisibility isn’t simply permanent protection, though. You still need to use it carefully because enemies can react once the effect ends.
Ambush
Ambush increases Sotharkuz’s movement speed while running.
The tradeoff is increased energy consumption.
This makes Ambush particularly useful when you’re trying to quickly close the distance on another creature, but constantly keeping it active can drain stamina quickly.
Dead Mouse
The showcase also demonstrates Sotharkuz’s unusual Dead Mouse ability.
After killing a creature with the ability, Sotharkuz can copy that creature’s ability.
This gives Sotharkuz an interesting utility mechanic and makes experimenting with different targets worthwhile.
Sotharkuz Appearance
Sotharkuz has a very unusual creature design.
It has a large mouth and a dark, unfinished-looking appearance, with an asymmetrical body design.
One of the more noticeable details is that its limbs don’t appear completely symmetrical. The showcase points out that one side has a wing-like structure while the other resembles a hand.
The result is a creature that looks intentionally strange and monstrous, fitting the dark theme of the Lore Event.
Sotharkuz Movement
Sotharkuz has:
- Walking
- Sprinting
- Sitting
- Lying down
- Mud pile behavior
The showcase does not show a normal jump ability.
Its relatively high sprint speed combined with Ambush makes it more focused on ground mobility and surprise attacks.
How to Farm the Event Faster
If your main goal is unlocking Sotharkuz as quickly as possible, don’t wait until you’ve finished one objective before starting another.
Start the Friendly Call Timer Early
The Friendly Call cooldown is around 10 minutes.
Since you need three calls, start this objective as soon as possible.
Collect Memory Crystals While Traveling
Don’t make separate trips just for every Crystal.
Whenever you’re traveling between objectives, keep an eye out for Memory Crystals and collect them as you go.
Gather Purification Materials Together
Before starting the purification process, collect your:
- Serum
- Stone
- Crystal
Having everything ready means you won’t need to repeatedly leave your den to gather missing materials.
Use an Adult Male Creature
Since creating the required den involves using a male creature, make sure you have an appropriate adult male creature ready before starting the quest.
This prevents you from reaching the purification step and discovering that you can’t create the required den.
Use Nearby Warden Shrines
The donation objective can be completed at Warden Shrines, so use whichever one is convenient.
There’s no need to travel across the entire map just to use one particular shrine.
The Sotharkuz Lore Event is mostly about managing several objectives at the same time.
The 10-minute Friendly Call cooldown is the biggest reason not to leave that objective until the end. Start it early and work on other requirements while waiting.
For the purification objective, gather your Serum, Stone, and Crystal before repeatedly returning to your den.
If you’re having trouble finding Crystal, check the Volcano, Mountain, or Snowy areas rather than relying entirely on the Jungle.
Finally, don’t ignore the Memory Crystals. Besides contributing to the event progression, they reveal more of Sotharkuz’s story and explain some of the mystery surrounding the creature.
Once you’ve completed the required objectives and earned enough event currency, head to the event shop and claim Sotharkuz.
