If you’ve been playing Fisch, there’s a pretty big new area to explore with the Skycrest Update. The update adds a massive floating island called Skycrest, along with a new progression system, new Charms, trials, quests, fishing equipment, and plenty of limited-time Fischfest content.

In this post, we’ll go through everything added in the Skycrest Update, including how Idol Favor works, what you can do with the new Ancient Idols, where the Sky Crystals come into play, and what you need to know about the Abaia Hunt. There’s quite a lot here, so I’ll break everything down so you can see what is worth doing first.

There are also several limited-time activities and rewards that you don’t want to overlook. So, if you’re jumping into Fisch after the update, grab your fishing gear and let’s go through what Skycrest has added.

Skycrest Floating Island

The biggest addition in the update is Skycrest, a huge new floating island connected to the Fischfest expansion.

The area contains both permanent content and limited-time activities, so there is quite a bit to explore even if you aren’t only interested in the main progression.

When you arrive at Skycrest, you’ll find new challenges, fishing opportunities, quests, NPCs, and the new Idol system.

This is basically the main hub for the update, so I’d recommend spending some time exploring the island before rushing through the objectives.

Idol Favor Progression System

Skycrest introduces a dedicated progression system called Idol Favor.

As you complete activities connected to the Ancient Idols and other Skycrest content, you’ll increase your Idol Favor level.

This isn’t just another level displayed on your character. Your Idol Favor also determines what you can unlock and how much of the new content you can safely interact with.

One of the biggest reasons to level it is the new Crest Amulet.

Crest Amulet and Charms

The Crest Amulet gives you a way to equip multiple stat-boosting Charms at the same time.

As your Idol Favor level increases, the number of Charms you can hold increases as well, with the amulet eventually allowing you to hold up to 9 Charms simultaneously.

That’s a pretty big deal because you can stack different bonuses instead of being limited to a single effect.

Ancient Idols

There are 7 Ancient Idols scattered throughout the Skycrest content.

The idols are:

  • Hayate
  • Ebisu
  • Fudo
  • Nagomi
  • Goriki
  • Shunsoku
  • Amanojaku

Each Idol has its own trials to complete.

Finishing these trials rewards you with dedicated stat Charms, giving you another reason to work through the Idol Favor progression rather than simply fishing around the new island.

How to Level Up Your Charms

Once you obtain Charms, you can level them up by catching fish in Skycrest.

As the Charms level up, their stat bonuses scale as well.

Depending on the Charm, you can improve stats such as:

  • Luck
  • Control
  • Resilience
  • Max Weight
  • Lure Speed
  • Progress Speed

So if you’re planning to spend a lot of time fishing in the new area, don’t ignore the Charm system. The bonuses become more useful as you continue progressing.

Tropical Squall and Raging Squall

Skycrest also introduces two more extreme weather events:

  • Tropical Squall
  • Raging Squall

These aren’t just visual weather changes.

The extreme weather is connected to special Idol trials, and completing those harder trials allows you to unlock two powerful Charms:

  • Titanic Charm
  • Flash Charm

You’ll therefore want to pay attention when these weather events appear, especially if you’re trying to complete the entire Idol progression.

Sky Crystals and the Keeper’s Questline

Another major part of the update is the Keeper’s Questline.

You’ll be helping the Keeper of the Sky recover 10 scattered Sky Crystals.

These crystals aren’t all sitting in one convenient location. You’ll need to search different parts of the world, including:

  • Moosewood
  • Terrapin Island
  • Roslit Bay
  • Snowcap Island
  • Other areas beyond these locations

As you progress through the Keeper’s tasks, you’ll work toward restoring Abaia’s Chamber.

You’ll first need to unlock the initial gate, which eventually leads into the larger Abaia storyline.

Idol Favor Is Required for the Sky Crystals

There’s an important requirement to remember when working on the Sky Crystals.

You need a sufficiently high Idol Favor level to safely place each crystal.

So don’t be surprised if you find one of the crystals but can’t immediately use it. The Idol Favor progression is tied directly into this part of the update.

I’d recommend working on your Idol Favor alongside the Keeper’s tasks rather than treating the two systems as completely separate.

Fire of Spirits

The Fire of Spirits is another important feature connected to the Skycrest update.

During a Tropical Squall, you can sacrifice fish at the Fire of Spirits.

As you make sacrifices, the flame grows.

The bigger flame provides bonuses to nearby Luck and increases the spawn rates of certain weather events.

This makes the Fire of Spirits useful beyond simply being part of a quest. If you’re already fishing during a Tropical Squall, you can put your catches toward the flame and gain additional benefits from the activity.

How To Start the Abaia Hunt

The Fire of Spirits also plays a major role in the Abaia Hunt.

By making the required fish sacrifices, you can eventually summon the legendary Abaia Hunt.

Once the hunt begins, you’ll need to pursue the beast through the subterranean outer ponds.

The objective is to strip away Abaia’s barrier so you can eventually reach its chamber.

This is one of the more involved pieces of content in the update, so don’t expect it to be as simple as walking up to a normal fish and catching it.

Fighting Abaia

After removing its barrier, you’ll be able to battle Abaia in its chamber.

You’ll need to pay attention to its attacks, particularly its biting attack.

The Abaia encounter is one of the main end goals tied to the Skycrest progression, so getting your Idol Favor and other bonuses ready beforehand should make the process much easier.

New Fishing Rods

The update also adds 5 new Fishing Rods.

These are some of the major equipment rewards you’ll be able to work toward while exploring the new content.

If you’re someone who likes collecting every rod or is looking for stronger fishing equipment, Skycrest gives you several new goals to chase.

New Harpoon Gun and Spear

Fishing isn’t the only equipment getting expanded.

The update adds a Harpoon Gun and a Spear as well.

These give you additional ways to interact with the new content and are particularly relevant to the more active parts of the update.

New Relics

Two new relics have also been added:

  • Crested Relic
  • Empyrean Relic

Keep an eye out for these while progressing through Skycrest and its related activities.

Elder Kaito’s Shop

Elder Kaito’s Shop is another new place worth checking.

The shop contains rare content, and new items will become available on a weekly basis.

That means you shouldn’t treat the shop as something you visit once and forget about.

If you’re trying to collect everything from the update, make a habit of checking Elder Kaito’s stock whenever it refreshes.

Master Hiroto’s Challenges

For players who want a harder challenge, there’s Master Hiroto.

He offers high-difficulty, timed angler challenges.

The interesting part is that these challenges scale based on your Idol Favor level.

Successfully completing them can reward you with large amounts of Idol Favor, making them a useful way to push your progression further.

If you’re already at a higher Idol Favor level and want something challenging to work toward, Master Hiroto’s tasks are definitely worth checking.

Sanctuary Wishes

Head over to the Sanctuary and speak with Ryusei.

There’s a surprise waiting there as part of the update.

Ryusei also has a limited-time opportunity for Fischers, connected to Fischfest leaving soon, so this is another NPC you shouldn’t ignore while the event content is active.

Idol Taiga Companion

One of the more interesting additions is the Idol Taiga companion.

To tame Idol Taiga, you’ll need to collect special Fireflies and meet the required Idol Favor progression.

Once you have enough Favor, you can use Fireflies during a Tropical Squall to tame the companion.

And honestly, Idol Taiga isn’t just there for decoration. This little guy comes with quite a few useful bonuses.

How To Get Fireflies

There are 4 nighttime Firefly variants you can catch:

  • Firefly
  • Loopy Five
  • Blue Ghost
  • Gombak Bent-Winged

These can be used as high-tier bait, so collecting them has a purpose even before you’re ready to tame Idol Taiga.

Make sure you’re searching for them at night because these are specifically nighttime roaming variants.

Idol Taiga’s Bonuses

After you tame Idol Taiga, the companion can provide several useful bonuses.

Its abilities include:

  • Boosting Charm effects
  • Automatically sacrificing low-rarity catches
  • Giving additional Idol Favor
  • Actively spearing fish

So if you’re planning to spend a lot of time working through the Skycrest progression, Idol Taiga can become a very helpful companion to have around.

New Bestiary

Skycrest also comes with a new Bestiary to complete.

You’ll find new fish and species throughout the update’s areas, giving completionists another reason to explore everything rather than focusing only on the main questline.

There’s also a limited Bestiary section tied to Fischfest, so you’ll want to work on that before the festival content disappears.

New Local Side Quests

There are also more than 20 new side quests involving locals.

These aren’t just filler objectives either. Some of the quests have unique rewards, so I’d recommend talking to the NPCs you encounter rather than ignoring them after finishing the main objectives.

If you’re aiming for 100% completion, these side quests are going to be an important part of the update.

Fruit Lover Frank Quest

There’s also a limited-time quest from Fruit Lover Frank.

Frank is available for this week only, so this is one of the activities you should prioritize if you want to collect every temporary reward from the update.

Frank is hungry, so you’ll need to help him out.

The reward is hinted to be a strong Fishing Rod, making the quest particularly interesting for anyone who wants to improve their equipment.

Don’t wait too long on this one since it’s only available for a limited period.

Skycrest Update Code

There is also a new code available with the update.

Use:

SkycrestIsInTheSky

Make sure you redeem it while it is active, as update codes can expire.

Astraeus Serenade Quest

One piece of content isn’t available immediately with this update.

The Astraeus Serenade quest is planned to become available next week.

The delay is due to the complexity of the quest’s programming, so it wasn’t ready to be included with the current update without risking the quality of the experience.

That means there’s still something else to look forward to after you’ve worked through the current Skycrest content.

What’s Coming After Skycrest?

The next major update planned for Fisch is FischFright 3.

Development has already started, and more information about the roadmap is expected to be posted on Fisch’s event pages after this weekend.

There are also future updates to look forward to, including Mariana’s Awakening.

So even after finishing Skycrest, there should be plenty more content coming.

Final Thoughts

The Skycrest Update is a pretty packed addition to Fisch. The new floating island is only the beginning, with Idol Favor, Ancient Idol trials, Charms, Sky Crystals, the Keeper’s questline, the Fire of Spirits, and the Abaia Hunt all working together as part of the larger progression.

If I were starting the update from scratch, I’d focus on Idol Favor first, while also working through the Keeper’s objectives and collecting Fireflies whenever I come across them. That way, you can gradually unlock the requirements for the harder content instead of reaching a locked objective and having to backtrack.

And don’t forget the limited-time stuff. Fruit Lover Frank, the Fischfest Bestiary content, Sanctuary activities, and other temporary rewards won’t necessarily stick around forever. Redeem SkycrestIsInTheSky, check the limited quests, and then start working your way through the seven Ancient Idols.

Skycrest is only the beginning of the next stretch of Fisch content, with FischFright 3 and other roadmap updates already in development.
