Choosing the right armor in Souls Crossover X can make a much bigger difference than many players expect. While weapons usually get most of the attention, your armor determines not only how much damage you can survive but also provides valuable bonuses like Mana, Walk Speed, Jump Power, and Melee or Magic Class Boosts.

Some armors are inexpensive upgrades you’ll replace after a few levels, while others are rare boss drops or powerful crafted items that can carry you through the endgame.

To make things easier, I’ve ranked every armor currently available from D Tier to S Tier, along with explanations of why each piece deserves its spot.

How to Get Armor

Armor can be obtained in several different ways:

  • Purchased from Muffet’s Shop
  • Crafted using special materials
  • Dropped by enemies and bosses
  • Purchased with Gems

Boss-drop armors often require multiple attempts since every item has its own drop chance. If you’re farming one of the rare endgame pieces, be prepared for a bit of grinding.

S Tier – Best Armors in the Game

These are the strongest armors currently available and are worth farming if you’re aiming for an endgame build.

Swap Locket

How to Get

  • Drops from Underswap Papyrus
  • Drop Chance: 2%

Stats

  • 8,500 HP
  • +4 Jump Power
  • +4 Walk Speed
  • +2,000 Mana
  • +55 Melee Class Boost

Why It’s S Tier

Swap Locket offers incredible survivability alongside the highest melee bonus in the game. Even though its drop rate is extremely low, the reward is well worth the effort if you’re committed to building the strongest melee character possible.

Best For: Endgame melee builds.

True Locket

How to Get

  • Drops from Chara
  • Drop Chance: 20%

Stats

  • 5,000 HP
  • +3 Jump Power
  • +5 Walk Speed
  • +1,000 Mana
  • +33 Melee Class Boost

Why It’s S Tier

True Locket is much easier to obtain than Swap Locket while still offering exceptional stats. It provides excellent mobility, plenty of health, useful mana, and a massive melee boost.

If you’re unlucky with Swap Locket, this is still an outstanding endgame choice.

Best For: High-level melee builds.

A Tier – Powerful Endgame Choices

These armors aren’t quite as dominant as S Tier but remain excellent for specialized builds.

Hard Locket

Requirement

  • Level 150
  • Purchase from Muffet’s Shop
  • Cost: 15,000 Gold

Stats

  • 2,500 HP
  • +2 Walk Speed
  • +2 Jump Power
  • +6 Melee Class Boost

Why It’s A Tier

Hard Locket is a reliable melee armor that doesn’t rely on rare drops. Its large HP increase makes it an excellent stepping stone before reaching the top-tier equipment.

Best For: Mid-to-late-game melee players.

Wings of Neo

Requirement

  • Level 135
  • Crafted at Sans Crafting

Recipe

  • 2 Heart of EX
  • 3 Monster Essence

Stats

  • 2,150 HP
  • +5 Jump Power
  • +800 Mana
  • +5 Magic Class Boost

Why It’s A Tier

This is one of the strongest magic-focused armors in the game. Although it doesn’t improve movement speed, the large Mana pool and Magic Class Boost make it perfect for spellcasters.

Best For: Magic builds.

Meta’s TV

How to Get

  • Drops from Mettaton EX
  • Drop Chance: 10%

Stats

  • 1,150 HP
  • +2 Walk Speed
  • +3 Jump Power
  • +500 Mana
  • +2 Magic Class Boost

Why It’s A Tier

Meta’s TV provides a balanced mix of survivability, mobility, and mana regeneration, making it a solid option before upgrading to Wings of Neo.

Best For: Early-to-mid magic builds.

Tem Armor

Requirement

  • Level 30
  • Purchase from the Tem Shop
  • Cost: 15 Gems

Stats

  • 1,000 HP
  • +5 Walk Speed
  • +5 Jump Power
  • +250 Mana
  • +5 Melee Class Boost

Why It’s A Tier

For such a low level requirement, Tem Armor is surprisingly powerful. The movement bonuses alone make it incredibly comfortable to use while progressing through the game.

It’s also part of the Tem Set, increasing its value if you’re collecting the full equipment set.

Best For: Mobile melee builds.

B Tier – Strong Midgame Options

These armors are reliable upgrades while progressing toward the endgame.

Cow Hat

Requirement

  • Level 75
  • Muffet’s Shop
  • Cost: 7,500 Gold

Stats

  • 1,250 HP
  • +3 Walk Speed
  • +3 Melee Class Boost

Why It’s B Tier

Cow Hat offers a significant health boost and becomes even stronger when combined with the complete Justice Set.

Stained Apron

Requirement

  • Level 50
  • Muffet’s Shop
  • Cost: 2,500 Gold

Stats

  • 500 HP
  • +2 Walk Speed
  • +3 Jump Power
  • +5 Melee Class Boost

Why It’s B Tier

This armor provides a little bit of everything, making it one of the best general-purpose upgrades during the middle stages of progression.

C Tier – Decent Early Upgrades

These armors are useful while leveling but shouldn’t stay equipped for very long.

Lesser Armor

How to Get

  • Drops from Lesser Dog
  • Drop Chance: 25%

Stats

  • 250 HP
  • +5 Melee Class Boost

Why It’s C Tier

The melee bonus is respectable, but its lack of mobility or mana keeps it from competing with stronger options.

Cloudy Glasses

Requirement

  • Level 30
  • Muffet’s Shop
  • Cost: 1,500 Gold

Stats

  • 250 HP
  • +100 Mana
  • +3 Magic Class Boost

Why It’s C Tier

Cloudy Glasses are a solid early-game choice for magic users, offering enough mana to noticeably improve spellcasting.

Manly Bandana

Requirement

  • Level 15
  • Muffet’s Shop
  • Cost: 250 Gold

Stats

  • 125 HP

Why It’s C Tier

A straightforward health upgrade with no additional bonuses.

D Tier – Replace These Early

These are the weakest armors and should only be used until something better becomes available.

Froggit Legs

How to Get

  • Drops from Froggit
  • Drop Chance: 20%

Stats

  • 30 HP
  • +15 Jump Power
  • +5 Walk Speed
  • +3 Melee Class Boost

Why It’s D Tier

Although the HP bonus is tiny, the mobility improvements are surprisingly useful during the early game. It’s arguably the strongest armor within D Tier because of those movement bonuses.

Faded Ribbon

Requirement

  • Level 1
  • Muffet’s Shop
  • Cost: 50 Gold

Stats

  • 50 HP
  • +1 Melee Class Boost

Why It’s D Tier

An inexpensive starter item that quickly becomes obsolete.

Bandage

Stats

  • 10 HP
  • +1 Melee Class Boost

Why It’s D Tier

This is your basic beginner armor and should be replaced almost immediately.

Complete Armor Tier List

Tier Armor
S Swap Locket, True Locket
A Hard Locket, Wings of Neo, Meta’s TV, Tem Armor
B Cow Hat, Stained Apron
C Lesser Armor, Cloudy Glasses, Manly Bandana
D Froggit Legs, Faded Ribbon, Bandage

Best Armor for Melee Builds

If you’re focusing on melee damage, prioritize these armors as you progress:

  1. Swap Locket
  2. True Locket
  3. Hard Locket
  4. Tem Armor
  5. Stained Apron

Each provides strong Melee Class Boosts alongside excellent survivability.

Best Armor for Magic Builds

Magic users should look for armor that increases Mana and Magic Class Boosts.

The best options are:

  1. Wings of Neo
  2. Meta’s TV
  3. Cloudy Glasses

These armors allow you to cast more effectively while still offering respectable defensive stats.

One thing I appreciate about the armor system in Souls Crossover X is that different pieces remain useful for different playstyles instead of every player chasing the exact same equipment. Magic users have several excellent choices throughout progression, while melee players eventually work toward powerful options like True Locket and the incredibly rare Swap Locket.

If you’re just starting out, don’t stress about farming rare boss drops immediately. Upgrade your armor gradually as you level, save your Gold for worthwhile purchases, and replace weaker gear whenever a better option becomes available. Once you reach the endgame, investing time into farming Swap Locket is absolutely worthwhile if you want the strongest melee armor currently available.
