One of the fastest ways to make your favorite units stronger in Anime Expeditions isn’t pulling another Mythic—it’s giving them the right trait. A good trait can dramatically increase a unit’s damage, attack speed, range, or even your overall economy, turning an already powerful character into a true late-game monster.
The catch is that traits are completely random, and some are incredibly rare. That’s why it’s important to know which ones are actually worth chasing before you spend all your Trait Crystals.
In this guide, we’ll cover every trait in Anime Expeditions, explain how to reroll them, where to get Trait Crystals, and which traits are currently the strongest in the game’s meta.

How to Reroll Traits in Anime Expeditions
Changing traits is very straightforward once you know where the Trait NPC is located.
Step 1: Go to the Lobby
After loading into the game, head toward the Evolve section.
Step 2: Find the Trait Station
The Trait Reroll NPC is located between the Evolve and Crafting areas.
Step 3: Select Your Unit
Choose the character whose trait you want to replace.
Step 4: Spend a Trait Crystal
Each reroll costs one Trait Crystal.
If you’re planning to spend lots of rerolls, use the Auto Reroll option. Before starting, open the Filters menu and choose which traits should automatically stop the reroll process once obtained. This prevents you from accidentally rerolling a rare trait.
How to Get Trait Crystals
Trait Crystals are the only currency used for rerolling traits, so you’ll want to collect as many as possible.
The best ways to earn them include:
- Completing Story stages
- Clearing Expeditions
- Daily login rewards
- Redeem codes
- Event rewards
- In-game mailbox gifts
- Limited-time update events
If you’re actively farming traits, redeeming new codes whenever they’re released is one of the easiest ways to stockpile extra rerolls.

S+ Tier Traits
Unbound
Unbound is currently the strongest trait in Anime Expeditions by a huge margin.
Its bonuses include:
- +350% Damage
- -5% SPA
- +10% Range
The enormous damage increase completely changes how a unit performs. Nearly every top-tier DPS character becomes dramatically stronger with Unbound equipped.
Because of its extremely low 0.1% roll rate, expect to rely on the 1,500 pity system if you’re specifically chasing this trait.
Best On
- Megumi
- Gowther
- Kenpachi
- Frieren
- Yuta
- Choso
S Tier Traits
Primordial
Primordial is one of the most balanced legendary traits.
It offers:
- +35% Damage
- -15% SPA
- +20% Range
Unlike traits that only improve one stat, Primordial increases nearly every aspect of a unit.
It’s an excellent choice for almost every DPS character.
Forsaken
Forsaken is designed for critical-hit focused characters.
Bonuses include:
- +35% Critical Chance
- +35% Critical Damage
- +10% Range
Units that naturally crit often can benefit enormously from this trait.
Draconic
Draconic is especially valuable on units that rely on damage-over-time effects.
It grants:
- +20% Damage
- +50% DoT Damage
- -10% Unit Cost
The reduced deployment cost also helps you place expensive units earlier during difficult stages.
Best On
- Burn units
- Bleed units
- Poison or DoT characters
A Tier Traits
Investor
Investor isn’t made for damage dealers.
Instead, it’s considered the best farming trait.
It increases income by 25%, allowing economy units to generate much more money throughout the match.
Always save Investor for:
- Stone Alchemist
- Ramen Guy
- Any future farming units
Never waste Investor on a DPS character.
Bolt
Bolt focuses entirely on attack speed.
It reduces SPA by 15%, allowing units to attack more frequently.
Simple, effective, and useful on nearly every attacker.
Precision II
Precision II gives:
- +20% Critical Chance
- +10% Critical Damage
If you don’t have Forsaken yet, this is one of the strongest alternatives for crit-based units.
Optics
Optics provides a huge 25% Range increase.
Extra range allows your units to attack enemies earlier and maintain damage for much longer.
This trait is especially valuable for:
- Support units
- Large AoE attackers
- Crowd-control characters
B Tier Traits
These traits are perfectly usable while waiting for something stronger.
Limit Breaker
Provides a straightforward 15% damage increase.
Nothing flashy, but always useful.
Speed II
Reduces SPA by 10%.
A solid upgrade for almost every attacker.
Range II
Adds 10% extra range.
Useful on supports and AoE characters.
Strength II
Provides 10% additional damage.
Reliable but eventually replaced by stronger traits.
Precision I
Adds:
- 10% Critical Chance
- 5% Critical Damage
A nice early-game crit option.
C Tier Traits
These are mostly temporary traits.
Enlightenment
Provides 50% additional EXP gain.
Useful while leveling new characters but should eventually be replaced once your units reach higher levels.
Strength I
A small 5% damage increase.
Better than nothing but easy to replace.
Speed I
Reduces SPA by 5%.
Helpful during the early game.
Range I
Provides 5% more range.
Fine for beginners but far from optimal.
Best Traits for Different Unit Types
Best DPS Trait
- Unbound
- Primordial
- Forsaken
Best Farming Trait
- Investor
This should almost always stay on economy units.
Best Burn & Bleed Trait
- Draconic
Its bonus DoT damage makes Burn and Bleed teams much stronger.
Best Support Trait
- Optics
- Bolt
- Primordial
Supports usually benefit more from attacking sooner or covering a larger area than from raw damage.
Traits play a massive role in building powerful teams in Anime Expeditions, and choosing the right one can make a bigger difference than simply pulling another strong unit. While Unbound remains the ultimate goal for nearly every damage dealer thanks to its massive damage boost, traits like Primordial, Forsaken, and Draconic are also excellent long-term investments that can carry you through endgame content.
Don’t overlook utility traits either. Investor can dramatically improve your economy when placed on farming units, while Bolt and Optics provide reliable performance boosts for both attackers and support characters. Since Trait Crystals aren’t unlimited, it’s usually better to save them for your strongest units rather than rerolling every character you own. With a bit of patience—and maybe some pity—you’ll eventually land the traits that can turn a good roster into a truly meta team.
