One of the biggest milestones in Digimon UP is watching your Partner Digimon evolve through each stage until it finally reaches its powerful Mega form. But unlike many other Digimon games, Digivolution here isn’t just about changing your appearance—it also unlocks stronger skills, passive abilities, higher stats, and even additional Partner Digimon.
If you’re wondering how to level up your Partner efficiently or when each Digivolution becomes available, this guide covers everything you need to know.
How to Level Up Your Partner
Unlike your Tamer, your Partner Digimon doesn’t gain EXP from defeating enemies or clearing story stages.
Instead, almost all of your Partner EXP comes from the Hologram Device.
The leveling process is simple once you understand how it works.
Step 1: Use the Hologram Device
Spend Hologram Tickets to activate the Hologram Device and generate Equipment or Plugins.
This should become one of your daily priorities because every item you obtain contributes toward strengthening your account.
Once you reach Stage 11, you’ll unlock the Auto Function, allowing the device to spend tickets automatically without constant tapping.
The Settings menu also lets you:
- Automatically sell low-rarity Equipment.
- Choose which rarities to keep.
- Select how many tickets are used at once.
- Filter Equipment and Plugins by their stats.
These options save a huge amount of time, especially later in the game.
Step 2: Sell Unwanted Equipment and Plugins
After generating Equipment, keep only your best upgrades.
Everything else should be sold.
Selling unwanted Equipment and Plugins rewards:
- Partner EXP
- Bits
This is the primary method of leveling your Partner throughout the game.
Higher-rarity Equipment provides significantly more EXP, which is why upgrading your Hologram Device is so important.
Step 3: Continue Gaining Partner EXP
As you continue selling Equipment and Plugins, your accumulated Partner EXP increases automatically.
Whenever enough EXP has been earned, your Partner levels up immediately.
Since Digivolution requires specific Partner levels, staying on top of Hologram Device usage is the fastest way to unlock every evolution stage.
Digivolution Requirements
Digivolution only requires your Partner to reach the appropriate level.
No evolution materials, special items, or quests are needed.
The current level requirements are:
- In-Training II – Level 5
- Rookie – Level 20
- Champion – Level 40
- Ultimate – Level 65
- Mega – Level 90
Whenever your Partner reaches one of these milestones, simply press the Digivolve button to continue evolving.
Choosing Your Battle Type
Your first major gameplay decision happens when your Partner reaches the Rookie stage.
You’ll choose one of three Battle Types:
Attack Type
Attack Type focuses on increasing offensive power through stronger Normal Attacks, higher attack speed, and damage-oriented passive skills.
If your goal is clearing stages as quickly as possible, Attack is an excellent beginner-friendly choice.
Defense Type
Defense Type sacrifices some damage in exchange for improved survivability.
Its passive skills focus on reducing incoming damage, improving defensive stats, and helping your Partner stay alive during longer battles.
SP Type
SP Type specializes in active skills rather than Normal Attacks.
It increases Skill Damage, Skill Critical Rate, and healing-related effects depending on the evolution branch you choose later.
Players who enjoy ability-focused gameplay often prefer SP builds.
If you ever want to change Battle Types later, you can do so, although each switch costs 500 DigiEmeralds.
Champion Branches
When your Partner reaches the Champion stage, you’ll make another important decision.
Each Battle Type splits into two specialized branches.
Attack Branches
Critical Type
Focuses on increasing:
- Critical Rate
- Critical Damage
This branch rewards consistent critical hits and high burst damage.
Combo Type
Improves:
- Combo Rate
- Combo Damage
Perfect for players who enjoy frequent combo attacks.
Defense Branches
Stun Type
Specializes in:
- Higher Stun Rate
- Improved crowd control
Useful for interrupting enemy attacks more consistently.
Counter Type
Focuses on:
- Counter Rate
- Counter Damage
Ideal if you prefer defensive playstyles that punish attacking enemies.
SP Branches
Recovery Type
Improves:
- HP Recovery Rate
- Healing Amount
This branch provides stronger sustain during difficult battles.
Skill Type
Enhances:
- Skill Critical Rate
- Skill Damage
A strong choice for players building around powerful active abilities.
Remember that your Champion branch also determines the passive skills you’ll continue learning at both the Ultimate and Mega stages.
Benefits of Digivolving
Digivolving does much more than unlock a new appearance.
Every evolution permanently strengthens your Partner in several different ways.
Higher Base Stats
Each evolution grants significant increases to your Partner’s overall stats.
You’ll receive permanent bonuses such as:
- In-Training II: HP +15%
- Rookie: Defense +15%
- Champion: Attack +50%
- Ultimate: HP +50%
- Mega: Attack +100%
These bonuses make every Digivolution a major jump in combat performance.
Stronger Active Skills
Every Digivolution upgrades your Partner’s Active Skill, increasing its effectiveness and damage.
Once your very first Partner reaches the Mega stage, those upgraded Active Skills become the standard for every future Partner you unlock.
New Passive Skills
Your Partner gradually unlocks five passive skills while evolving.
By the time your first Partner reaches Mega, all five passive abilities become permanently available.
Future Partners automatically inherit these passive skills from the very beginning, making them much easier to train.
Unlock More Partner Digimon
Reaching Level 99 and the Mega stage with your first Partner unlocks the ability to recruit additional Partner Digimon.
Each new Partner normally costs 500 DigiEmeralds, although you can also use a Partner Digimon Growth Ticket instead if you have one.
Unlock Alternate Appearances
Every Digivolution permanently unlocks a new appearance.
Even after reaching Mega, you’re free to switch back to Rookie, Champion, Ultimate, or any previously unlocked form whenever you like.
This lets you use your favorite evolution while keeping your full combat strength.
Collect Partner Frames
Once a Partner reaches the Mega stage, you’ll also unlock that Digimon’s exclusive profile frame.
Players who enjoy collecting cosmetics can eventually raise every Partner to Mega and unlock every available icon frame.
Digivolution is one of the most rewarding progression systems in Digimon UP. Every evolution increases your Partner’s stats, strengthens active skills, unlocks new passive abilities, and brings you closer to recruiting additional Partner Digimon. Since Partner EXP comes almost entirely from the Hologram Device, using your Hologram Tickets every day is the fastest way to keep progressing.
Whether you’re aiming to unlock your favorite Mega Digimon or preparing to recruit every Partner in the game, focusing on consistent Hologram Device usage and timely Digivolutions will ensure your account continues getting stronger throughout your adventure.
