The latest Legacy Piece update brings a brand-new Fire Force themed area along with two powerful characters: Benimaru and Shinra. If you’re aiming to unlock Benimaru, be prepared for a bit of grinding because you can’t obtain him immediately after reaching the new island.
Instead, you’ll need to progress through the Fire Force storyline, complete several quests, earn special materials, and meet a list of unlock requirements before Benimaru finally becomes available.
This guide walks you through every step so you know exactly what to do.
Travel to Seven Company Island
Everything starts at the new Seven Company Island.
Once you arrive, look for the main quest NPC and interact with them.
You’ll quickly find out that Benimaru isn’t available right away. Before the main storyline opens, you’ll need to finish several introductory side quests.
Find the Three Hidden Cats
Your first objective is locating three hidden cats scattered around Seven Company Island.
The cats don’t always stand out visually, but there’s a useful trick that makes finding them much easier.
How to Find the Cats Faster
Listen carefully while exploring the island.
Each cat emits a distinctive sound, so when you hear louder or higher-frequency audio, you’re getting close to one.
Instead of searching every corner randomly, use the sound as your guide.
Once you’ve found all three cats, return to continue the storyline.
Rescue Five Hostages
The next mission sends you to the Ruins.
Here you’ll need to rescue five hostages.
Where to Find Them
Look for the green NPCs throughout the Ruins area.
Interact with each hostage to rescue them until all five have been saved.
After rescuing everyone, head back to the main island and speak with the quest NPC again.
Survive Three Ambushes
The following objective is one of the more combat-focused parts of the questline.
You’ll need to survive three separate ambushes.
How to Start an Ambush
Travel to different maps and search for red circles on the ground.
Interacting with one of these red areas summons an ambush boss.
Simply defeat the boss, then move on to another red circle until you’ve completed all three encounters.
Once every ambush has been cleared, you’ll officially become part of the Fire Force Company, unlocking the next stage of progression.
Complete Fire Force Quests
After joining the Fire Force Company, return to the main island and speak with the quest NPC once more.
A new set of quests becomes available.
These missions reward important Fire Force materials, including:
- Ember
- Infernal
- Adolla
- Flame
- Other crafting resources
You’ll also begin earning the new Fire Force currency, which can be exchanged for additional materials needed later.
At this point, it’s worth completing every available quest because nearly all of the rewards contribute toward Benimaru’s unlock requirements.
Benimaru Unlock Requirements
Once you’ve progressed far enough, you’ll be able to interact with the Benimaru NPC.
Before you can recruit him, you’ll need to meet all of the following requirements:
| Requirement | Amount |
|---|---|
| Rank | SS or higher |
| Bounty | 10,000,000 |
| Title | King of Asakusa |
| Benimaru’s Eyes | 15 |
| Du Amatoi | 50 |
| Sun Wheel Units | 35 |
| Infernal Cores | 150 |
| Ember Fragments | 10 |
If even one requirement is missing, the NPC won’t allow you to claim Benimaru.
How to Farm Benimaru Materials Faster
Since several required materials come from the new Fire Force questline, your priority should be finishing every available mission before worrying about farming individual items.
A good progression route looks like this:
- Complete all introductory story quests.
- Finish every available Fire Force mission.
- Spend your new event currency on missing materials.
- Farm additional enemies for required drops.
- Return to Benimaru once every requirement has been completed.
Following the questline naturally will save you a lot of unnecessary grinding later.
Claim Benimaru
After collecting every required material and meeting the rank requirement, head back to the Benimaru NPC.
Interact with him again, and you’ll finally be able to unlock Benimaru as a playable character.
No additional quest is required once you’ve satisfied all of the requirements.
Benimaru Showcase
Benimaru’s attacks are heavily inspired by his abilities from Fire Force, featuring powerful flame-based techniques with flashy visual effects. His skills focus on dealing high damage through explosive fire attacks, making him a strong offensive character once unlocked.
Beyond his impressive animations, Benimaru is clearly intended as one of the major endgame rewards from the Fire Force update, which explains the lengthy list of materials needed to obtain him.
Unlocking Benimaru takes time, but the process is fairly straightforward once you know the progression path. Most of the grind revolves around completing the Fire Force storyline, gathering event materials, and working toward the required SS Rank and King of Asakusa title. If you focus on clearing every available quest before farming specific drops, you’ll naturally collect many of the required resources along the way.
For players planning to explore everything the Fire Force update has to offer, Benimaru is one of the most rewarding characters to unlock and serves as a great long-term goal after arriving at Seven Company Island.
