Anime Apocalypse’s latest update brings two major additions that fans have been waiting to try: a complete Soul Reaper (Ichigo) rework and the brand-new Son of Sparta ability inspired by Kratos. Both received new skills and ultimate abilities, but after seeing them in action, they don’t exactly leave the same impression.

If you’re wondering which one is worth using after the update, here’s a full breakdown of every move, how they perform, and whether they’re worth unlocking.

Anime Apocalypse Son of Sparta & Soul Reaper Rework Guide

The Soul Reaper rework gives Ichigo an updated moveset with faster animations and a new ultimate.

Compared to the previous version, the abilities feel much smoother, but they’re also noticeably quicker. In some cases, the attacks happen so fast that it’s difficult to appreciate the animations.

The current moves include:

  • Getsuga
  • Cero
  • Getsuga Jujisho
  • Ultimate Ability
  • Mastery-exclusive V Skill (requires 100 Mastery)

Getsuga

Getsuga is your basic offensive attack.

The move activates almost instantly, making it easy to weave into combos.

While it’s responsive, the animation is fairly short, so it doesn’t feel particularly impactful despite dealing damage.

Cero

Cero fires a quick energy blast toward enemies.

Like Getsuga, it’s extremely fast and works well during combat, especially for keeping pressure on opponents.

Its speed is definitely one of its strengths.

Getsuga Jujisho

Getsuga Jujisho continues the trend of fast-paced attacks.

The animation is clean, but because everything happens almost immediately, the move lacks the visual weight many players expected from a rework.

It performs well mechanically, though it may not feel as satisfying as some of the newer abilities in the game.

Soul Reaper Ultimate

The updated ultimate features a much larger animation than the standard abilities.

Visually, it’s an improvement over the normal skills and looks far more dramatic during combat.

However, even with the improved effects, the overall presentation still feels a bit brief. Players expecting a long cinematic attack may find it ends sooner than anticipated.

Mastery Requirement

One of the Soul Reaper skills is locked behind:

  • 100 Mastery

Until you reach this requirement, you won’t have access to the full moveset, so expect to spend some time grinding before experiencing everything the rework offers.

Overall Thoughts on Soul Reaper

The rework definitely modernizes Ichigo’s abilities, but the biggest criticism is how quickly everything happens.

The moves are responsive and effective, yet they don’t have the same sense of impact as some of the recent abilities added to Anime Apocalypse.

If you enjoy fast gameplay, you’ll probably like the rework. If you prefer flashy, hard-hitting animations, it may leave you wanting a little more.

Son of Sparta (Kratos) Overview

While Soul Reaper focuses on speed, Son of Sparta is all about powerful-looking attacks and heavy visual effects.

Inspired by Kratos, this weapon introduces an entirely new moveset filled with aggressive melee abilities that immediately stand out.

The available abilities include:

  • Spirit of Hercules
  • Tartarus Rage
  • Cyclone of Chaos
  • Ultimate Transformation
  • Mastery-exclusive V Skill (100 Mastery)

Spirit of Hercules

This serves as the opening attack of the moveset.

The animation is noticeably heavier than Soul Reaper’s attacks and immediately feels more satisfying to land.

It’s a strong introduction to the weapon.

Tartarus Rage

Tartarus Rage continues the aggressive theme by delivering another powerful melee combo.

The effects are much more noticeable than many existing weapons, making the move visually enjoyable while remaining practical during combat.

Cyclone of Chaos

Cyclone of Chaos quickly became one of the standout moves in the update.

The spinning attack covers a wide area and flows naturally with the rest of Kratos’ abilities.

It’s both stylish and useful for clearing groups of enemies.

Ultimate Transformation

Activating the ultimate transforms your character into a stronger version of the Son of Sparta.

The transformation changes your appearance and even updates your basic attacks.

During the transformation:

  • Your M1 attacks change.
  • The form looks visually impressive.
  • Other weapon skills appear to become unavailable until the transformation ends.

Whether this is intentional or a temporary bug isn’t completely clear, but during testing, only basic attacks could be used while transformed.

Mastery Requirement

Like Soul Reaper, Son of Sparta also has one ability locked behind:

  • 100 Mastery

You’ll need to continue leveling before unlocking the complete moveset.

This update introduces two enjoyable additions, but they appeal to different playstyles.

The Soul Reaper rework succeeds in making Ichigo feel faster and more fluid, though some players may wish the attacks had a bit more visual impact. It performs well, but it doesn’t completely steal the spotlight.

On the other hand, Son of Sparta is the clear standout. Its attacks feel heavier, the animations are more exciting, and every move gives the impression of wielding an incredibly powerful weapon. The transformation mechanic could use some refinement if the skill restrictions are intentional, but even with that limitation, it’s one of the most entertaining abilities added to Anime Apocalypse so far.

If you’re deciding which new ability to grind for first, Son of Sparta is easily the more memorable choice in the current update.
