One of the first big decisions you’ll make in Haze Seas is choosing a weapon to build around. While Fruits and Fighting Styles get plenty of attention, Swords remain one of the strongest ways to deal damage throughout the game. The catch is that not every sword is worth your time. Some are easy upgrades that help you progress through the early seas, while others require hours of farming, rare boss drops, or expensive crafting materials before they’re finally yours.

If you’re wondering which swords to chase first or where to find a specific weapon, this guide covers every sword currently available, how to unlock it, and which ones deserve a permanent spot in your inventory.

How Sword Progression Works

Every sword has its own moveset that unlocks as you increase Sword Mastery. Most weapons start with one skill and gradually unlock additional attacks as your mastery rises.

Several swords also have upgraded V2 versions. Instead of replacing the original weapon, these upgrades require you to already own the base sword before you can evolve it into a much stronger version.

Because of this, it’s usually worth keeping important swords even after you’ve unlocked stronger ones.

All Sea 1 Swords

Sea 1 introduces nearly every basic sword you’ll need to begin your journey.

Katana

The Katana is the very first sword most players obtain.

  • Purchased from the Starter Island weapon shop.
  • Great for learning Sword Mastery.
  • Easily replaced later.

Pillow

The Pillow is an exclusive weapon available through the VIP Game Pass.

If you don’t own VIP, this sword isn’t obtainable through normal gameplay.

Shark Blade

One of the earliest boss-drop swords.

To obtain it:

  • Defeat the Shark Boss.
  • Wait for the sword to drop.

Its shark-themed abilities make it noticeably stronger than the starter Katana.

Soul Cane

A hidden weapon sold by a secret NPC inside Impel Jail Island.

Although it costs a decent amount of Beli, it’s a reliable upgrade since it doesn’t rely on luck.

Pipe

The Pipe is especially useful if you’re using Fire-based builds because it grants a passive fire bonus alongside its attacks.

Purchase it from Soba at Marine Base Island.

Operation Blade

Hidden near the mountain on Half Hot Island, Operation Blade is another excellent mid-game purchase for Sword users.

Mace

Mace is earned by defeating the Mace Boss.

Later in the game it can be upgraded into Mace V2, making it one of the few early weapons that remains relevant.

Fishman Trident

To obtain this weapon:

  • Defeat Neptune.
  • Obtain a Fork.
  • Exchange the Fork with the Fishman Island merchant.

Dual Sword Style (2SS)

One of the most popular early-game weapons.

You can purchase the base version before eventually upgrading it into 2SS V2 after obtaining the required Book drop.

Raiu

This sword requires defeating Shiryu and exchanging the dropped Scroll with a hidden NPC.

It takes some exploration but rewards players with a strong sword.

Seabeast Hammer

Earned by defeating Sea Beasts after summoning them using Cola.

Its upgraded version becomes available much later.

Bisento

Purchased from a hidden NPC inside Marine HQ.

Later, players can upgrade it into Bisento V2 after defeating Tremor Girl.

Shusui

Dropped by Ryummy at Thriller Boat.

Although the drop isn’t guaranteed, Shusui becomes extremely important later because it’s required to craft Three Sword Style.

Golden Staff

Dropped by Thunder God.

Its V2 upgrade becomes available much later once you reach higher-level content.

All Sea 2 Swords

Sea 2 is where swords begin becoming significantly stronger.

Most endgame crafting recipes start here.

Zenith

Zenith comes from the Shadow Island storm event.

Unlike many powerful swords, defeating the Zenith Boss guarantees the sword, making it one of the easiest high-tier weapons to obtain.

Enma

Dropped by the Enma Boss.

Although the drop isn’t guaranteed, Enma is one of the strongest swords before entering Sea 3.

Dough Trident

Obtained by defeating the Dough Boss.

Players using aggressive melee builds often enjoy its fast attacks.

Dark Blade V2

Dark Blade V2 requires several preparation steps before fighting its boss.

You’ll need to summon the boss using special requirements before having a chance at obtaining the upgrade.

While the process takes time, Dark Blade V2 remains one of the strongest swords available.

Three Sword Style (3SS)

Creating Three Sword Style isn’t as simple as defeating one boss.

You’ll first need:

  • Zenith
  • Shusui
  • Enma
  • 300 Mastery on all three swords

After meeting those requirements, interact with the Rock Shrine to obtain 3SS.

Because of the investment required, many players begin preparing for this weapon long before reaching Sea 3.

Mace V2

Upgrade your original Mace by defeating the upgraded Mace boss.

Seabeast Hammer V2

Dropped by White Sea Beasts that appear in later seas.

All Sea 3 Swords

Sea 3 focuses almost entirely on crafting legendary weapons.

Most recipes require high Sword Mastery, expensive materials, and millions of Beli.

Dual Dark Blade

The most difficult sword to obtain.

Crafting it requires:

  • Dark Blade V2
  • High Sword Mastery
  • Ancient Blade Relics
  • Abyssal Eye
  • Large Bounty requirement
  • Millions of Beli

The grind is enormous, but the reward is one of the strongest weapons in the entire game.

Three Sword Style V2

Upgrade your existing 3SS using Ancient Blade Relics.

The result is a much stronger version with improved attacks.

Free Dark Blade

Another forge-exclusive weapon requiring Ancient Blade Relics, an Abyssal Eye, and Gems.

Golden Staff V2

Golden Staff receives a major upgrade once crafted at the forge.

Players already using the original version should definitely upgrade when possible.

Ace

Ace is one of the rarest swords in Haze Seas.

Instead of dropping from a normal boss, it comes from Final Quest rewards, making it a long-term grind.

Gryphon

Dropped by the Red Emperor.

This sword is especially popular among PvP players thanks to its versatile moveset.

Best Early Game Swords

If you’re just starting, these swords offer the best value:

  • Shark Blade
  • Soul Cane
  • Operation Blade
  • Dual Sword Style
  • Pipe (especially for Fire users)

These weapons are relatively easy to obtain and make progressing through Sea 1 much smoother.

Best Mid Game Swords

Once you reach Sea 2, focus on unlocking:

  • Zenith
  • Enma
  • Dark Blade V2
  • Dough Trident

These provide a massive jump in damage and prepare you for Sea 3 crafting.

Best Endgame Swords

If your goal is maximum damage, these should be your priorities.

Dual Dark Blade

The strongest overall sword in Haze Seas.

It excels in both PvE farming and PvP combat thanks to its high damage and versatile skills.

Three Sword Style V2

One of the highest burst-damage swords in the game.

Although crafting it takes time, it’s well worth the investment.

Dark Blade V2

A fantastic all-around weapon that remains useful even before obtaining Dual Dark Blade.

Gryphon

Excellent for players who enjoy PvP thanks to its combo potential and wide attack coverage.

Zenith

Zenith remains one of the best swords for players transitioning into late-game content because it’s powerful and much easier to obtain than many legendary weapons.

Haze Seas has a surprisingly deep sword progression system, and many of the strongest endgame weapons require planning long before you actually reach Sea 3. If you’re serious about becoming a Sword main, it’s worth collecting important weapons like Shusui, Enma, and Zenith early since they’ll eventually become crafting materials for even stronger upgrades. While Dual Dark Blade currently sits at the top of the power rankings, there are plenty of excellent options along the way that can comfortably carry you through bosses, quests, and PvP until you’re ready for the final grind.
