The Yamato update has finally arrived in Broken Blade, and it introduces one of the most exciting weapons we’ve seen in a while. Unlike many previous weapons that could be crafted fairly quickly, Yamato is designed to be a long-term grind. You’ll need thousands of materials, a lot of farming, and some patience before you can finally wield this powerful katana.
The good news is that the grind isn’t as bad as it looks once you understand what materials matter most and where you should focus your time. After testing the update and looking through the new systems, it’s clear that Yamato isn’t just another weapon added to the crafting menu. The transformation mechanic, built-in parries, and strong scaling make it one of the most interesting katana weapons currently available.
If you’re planning to craft Yamato, here’s everything you need to know.
Yamato Crafting Requirements
Before you start farming, it’s important to know exactly what you’re working toward.
To craft Yamato, you’ll need:
- 6,500 Katana Piece 1
- 4,000 Katana Piece 2
- 2,500 Katana Piece 3
- 1,000 Red Orbs
- 10,000 Fire Seeds
At first glance, the numbers look intimidating, especially the Red Orb requirement. While you’ll naturally collect Katana Pieces and Fire Seeds through regular gameplay, Red Orbs are where most players will spend the majority of their farming time.
This means your farming route should be built around maximizing Red Orb efficiency while collecting the other materials along the way.
Katana Pieces
Katana Pieces are one of the easier requirements to complete.
They can be obtained from:
- Enemy drops
- Chests
- General farming activities
The nice thing about Katana Pieces is that you’ll continue accumulating them while farming other materials. You generally won’t need a dedicated Katana Piece grind unless you’re starting completely from scratch.
Because Yamato also benefits from Soul Forge upgrades later, collecting extra Katana Pieces beyond the minimum requirement is never a bad idea.
Fire Seeds
Fire Seeds are another material that will naturally accumulate during normal farming sessions.
Enemies throughout the game can drop Fire Seeds, and by the time you’re close to finishing your Red Orb grind, you’ll likely have collected a large portion of the Fire Seeds needed for crafting.
Many players focus too heavily on Fire Seeds early, but in reality, they’re usually not the bottleneck.
The real challenge is Red Orbs.
Red Orbs
Red Orbs are the most important material for Yamato.
To obtain them, you’ll need to farm the new Space Invader enemies introduced with the update.
These enemies have a chance to drop Red Orbs, and since the weapon requires 1,000 of them, this becomes your primary objective.
When I first saw the requirement, I assumed it would be nearly impossible. After watching players farm efficiently, though, it’s clear that the grind is manageable if you focus on killing Space Invaders as quickly as possible.
The faster you clear enemies, the faster the Red Orbs begin stacking up.
Space Invader Farming
There are two ways to farm Space Invaders:
- Passive AFK farming
- Active farming
AFK farming works, but it is significantly slower.
If your goal is to obtain Yamato quickly, active farming is far superior.
Run around the map, locate Space Invaders, eliminate them quickly, and continue moving.
Constant movement keeps enemy kills high and dramatically improves Red Orb gains over time.
Players who simply stand in one location usually end up taking much longer to reach the 1,000 Orb requirement.
Luck Titles
Luck becomes surprisingly important during the Yamato grind.
Before beginning your farming sessions, equip the best Luck Title available to your account.
Additional luck can improve material acquisition and make the grind noticeably smoother.
Even small percentage boosts become valuable when you’re farming thousands of materials.
If you have access to multiple titles, prioritize the one offering the highest luck bonuses.
2x Luck Event
The current 2x Luck event is one of the biggest reasons players should farm Yamato now rather than later.
Temporary events like this can drastically reduce grind time.
When a weapon requires 1,000 Red Orbs, every increase in drop rates matters.
If you’re still undecided about crafting Yamato, the event alone makes this one of the best opportunities to start farming.
Waiting until after the event could make the process significantly slower.
Space Ore
While farming Space Invaders, you’ll eventually start collecting Space Ore.
This new ore is one of the most important additions in the update because it’s currently considered the best upgrade material for Yamato.
Unlike some ores that specialize in only one stat category, Space Ore provides multiple bonuses that directly benefit katana builds.
Space Ore Stats
Space Ore provides:
- 40% Damage
- 40% Katana Damage
- 6% Speed
- 6% Critical Chance
- 35% Critical Damage
Looking at these bonuses, it’s easy to understand why players are calling it the perfect Yamato ore.
Every major stat a katana build wants is represented here.
You gain stronger basic attacks, better critical hits, increased speed, and additional weapon scaling all from a single ore type.
Alternative Ores
Not everyone will have enough Space Ore immediately.
If you’re unable to use it, there are still several solid alternatives.
Holy Ore
Holy Ore remains a reliable option for players seeking strong damage bonuses and balanced performance.
Frost Ore
Frost Ore continues to be useful for certain combat styles and can still perform well on Yamato.
Thunder Ore
Thunder Ore offers another viable alternative if Space Ore isn’t available.
While all three options can work, Space Ore remains the strongest overall choice for maximizing Yamato’s potential.
Soul Forge
Crafting Yamato is only the beginning.
To truly unlock the weapon’s power, you’ll need to invest in Soul Forge upgrades.
Soul Forge levels directly increase the weapon’s effectiveness and should be one of your top priorities after crafting.
The required Katana Pieces make your earlier farming efforts even more valuable.
Even at lower Soul Forge levels, Yamato already performs well, but continued upgrades push its damage much further.
Yamato Skills
One of the biggest reasons players are excited about Yamato is its skill set.
The weapon offers offensive pressure, defensive utility, and transformation mechanics all within a single package.
Z Skill
The Z Skill functions as Yamato’s primary offensive ability.
Most importantly, it has no cooldown.
This allows players to continuously apply damage during combat.
Whether you’re farming enemies or fighting bosses, having access to a repeatable damage tool greatly improves consistency.
X Skill
The X Skill introduces one of Yamato’s defensive mechanics.
This ability functions as a parry skill, allowing skilled players to counter enemy attacks rather than simply absorbing damage.
C Skill
The C Skill serves as a second parry option.
Having two defensive tools gives Yamato a unique feel compared to many other weapons.
Instead of relying entirely on offense, players can actively counter dangerous attacks.
V Skill
The V Skill is where Yamato becomes truly special.
Initially, this ability acts as a charge skill.
However, once activated, it unlocks Yamato’s transformation.
This transformed state provides additional power and changes how the weapon functions.
The transformation system gives Yamato an identity that separates it from most other katana weapons currently available.
Ultimate Skill
Because Yamato is a five-star weapon, it also possesses a powerful ultimate ability.
This attack delivers massive damage and serves as one of the weapon’s strongest offensive tools.
Combined with transformation buffs, the ultimate can produce impressive damage numbers.
Katana Mastery
One mistake many players make is focusing entirely on the weapon itself while ignoring mastery progression.
Yamato scales exceptionally well with Katana Mastery.
The more mastery levels you earn, the stronger the weapon becomes.
Mastery improvements continue benefiting your account long after crafting is complete, making them one of the best long-term investments available.
If Yamato becomes your main weapon, pushing Katana Mastery should be a priority.
Master Quest
The update also introduces a new Master Quest.
Completing this quest provides additional power and further increases Yamato’s effectiveness.
Because these bonuses stack with Soul Forge upgrades, mastery progression, and ore enhancements, they’re too valuable to ignore.
Many players rush straight to crafting and forget about the quest entirely.
Don’t make that mistake.
Altars
The new Altars introduced in the update are another major source of power.
These upgrades affect your entire account rather than a single weapon.
Current bonuses include:
- +10% Damage
- +380% Health
Those numbers are significant enough that every serious player should prioritize unlocking them.
The additional health alone dramatically improves survivability during difficult content.
Complete Yamato Progression Route
If you’re starting from scratch, this is the order I would recommend:
- Farm enemies and chests for Katana Pieces.
- Collect Fire Seeds naturally while grinding.
- Equip your best Luck Title.
- Take advantage of the 2x Luck event.
- Focus heavily on Space Invaders.
- Collect 1,000 Red Orbs.
- Gather Space Ore during the process.
- Craft Yamato.
- Upgrade it using Space Ore.
- Increase Soul Forge levels.
- Complete the Master Quest.
- Improve Katana Mastery.
- Unlock the new Altars.
Following this route keeps your progression efficient and ensures you aren’t missing important power increases.
Is Yamato Worth Getting?
After looking at its requirements, skills, upgrades, and transformation mechanics, the answer is yes.
The grind is substantial, but the reward justifies the effort.
Yamato combines:
- Strong damage output
- Two parry skills
- Transformation mechanics
- Powerful ultimate attacks
- Excellent scaling with Space Ore
- Strong mastery potential
What impressed me most is how complete the weapon feels. Many weapons excel in one area while lacking in another. Yamato manages to offer offense, defense, mobility, scaling, and transformation mechanics all at once.
If you’re already using katana builds, this weapon should absolutely be on your priority list. It may take time to gather every material, but once fully upgraded with Space Ore, Soul Forge levels, mastery bonuses, and altar buffs, Yamato has the potential to become one of the strongest and most versatile weapons currently available in Broken Blade.
