Making mistakes with your build is completely normal in VV: Ultimatum. Many players spend their early levels experimenting with different stats, skills, and abilities, only to realize later that their setup isn’t as strong as they hoped. Fortunately, the game gives you several ways to reset and customize your character, although some of them require a fair amount of grinding.
This guide explains everything you need to know about resetting your build, rerolling your clan and abilities, and changing your weapon.
How to Reset Your Build
Before you can reset your build, you must first reach Level 70.
Unfortunately, there is no shortcut around this requirement. If you invested your stat points incorrectly before Level 70, you’ll need to continue leveling until you hit the required level.
Once you reach Level 70, you can begin working toward a build reset.
To do this, you’ll need to gather various crafting materials. Most of these materials are obtained from bosses throughout the game. Some of the required items, such as Crocodile Scales and Flames, can be obtained from bosses located in Hueco Mundo.
Because these materials come from boss farming, expect to spend some time grinding before you can craft the reset item.
Crafting a Hogyoku
One of the most important items in VV: Ultimatum is the Hogyoku.
After crafting a Hogyoku, you’ll gain access to several powerful options that allow you to modify different parts of your character.
When using a Hogyoku, you’ll be presented with multiple wishes, each serving a different purpose.
Resetting Stat Points
If your goal is to completely rebuild your character, select:
“I want to relocate my build points.”
This option refunds all your allocated stat points, allowing you to create a completely new build from scratch.
This is the option most players use when they realize they invested points into the wrong stats or want to switch to a different playstyle.
Resetting Skills
Another useful Hogyoku option is:
“I want to refund all of my skills.”
This resets the skills currently assigned to your character and gives you a fresh start when selecting abilities and upgrades.
If you’ve unlocked several abilities and want to reorganize your skill setup, this is the option you’ll need.
How to Change Your Clan
Changing your clan is much simpler than resetting your build.
To reroll your clan:
- Return to the main menu.
- Open your profile customization screen.
- Select the clan reroll option.
- Use your reroll resources.
Your new clan will be randomly selected from the available clan pool.
Keep in mind that clan rerolls are entirely luck-based, so it may take multiple attempts to obtain the clan you’re aiming for.
How to Reroll Your Ability
Abilities such as:
- Shikai
- Schrift
- Resurrección
can also be rerolled.
First, you must unlock the ability normally through progression.
Once unlocked, the game’s ability menu will become available. From there, you can spend ability rerolls to randomly generate a new ability.
If you’re hunting for a rare or meta ability, be prepared to save up multiple rerolls.
How to Change Your Weapon
Changing your Shikai weapon, Schrift weapon, or Resurrección weapon requires a different resource.
You’ll need:
Experimental Hogyoku Shards
When using a Hogyoku, select the option that grants seven Experimental Hogyoku Shards.
These shards are specifically used for weapon rerolls and allow you to change the weapon associated with your current ability.
This is separate from rerolling the actual ability itself.
What Do Ability Rolls Do?
Another Hogyoku reward option grants:
Seven Ability Rolls
These are used specifically for rerolling abilities such as:
- Shikai
- Schrift
- Resurrección
If you’re happy with your weapon but want a different ability, this is the option you’ll want to choose.
What Does “Ultimate Mastery” Do?
One of the more powerful Hogyoku wishes is:
“I want ultimate mastery over one of my techniques.”
This instantly maxes out the mastery progression for a selected technique.
Normally, upgrading abilities requires a significant amount of grinding and usage. Choosing this option allows you to skip that process and immediately maximize one of your skills.
This can be especially valuable for endgame builds that rely heavily on a specific ability.
What Does “Make Me Rich” Do?
The Hogyoku also includes a money-focused option:
“Make me rich.”
Selecting this reward grants approximately 5,000 Tokens.
While not as impactful as build resets or ability rerolls, it’s a useful option if you’re currently short on currency and need resources for upgrades.
How to Reroll Hollow Traits
Players using Hollow-based builds can also use a Hogyoku to reroll their Hollow Traits.
This allows you to replace unwanted traits and chase stronger trait combinations for your build.
Since traits can significantly impact your performance, this option is worth considering if you’re focused on optimizing your character.
Best Use of Your First Hogyoku
For most players, the best first choice depends on what problem they’re trying to fix:
- Bad stat distribution → Reset Build Points
- Wrong abilities → Ability Rolls
- Wrong weapon → Experimental Hogyoku Shards
- Poor skill setup → Skill Refund
- Maxing a favorite ability → Ultimate Mastery
If you’ve completely messed up your character build, resetting your build points is usually the most valuable choice.
VV: Ultimatum offers a lot of customization, but fixing mistakes requires preparation. Reaching Level 70 is the first major requirement, and after that you’ll need to farm bosses and materials to craft a Hogyoku.
Once you have one, you’ll be able to reset stat points, reroll abilities, change weapons, refund skills, reroll traits, or even instantly master techniques. Because Hogyoku resources take time to obtain, make sure you choose the option that helps your current build the most before spending it.
