Anime Story 2 Re Release finally dropped, and after testing units across story, raids, Infinite Castle, Slime Apocalypse, and general farming, the meta is already starting to become pretty clear. Some units are carrying entire teams while others only look flashy on paper.
What makes this game interesting is that raw damage alone is not everything anymore. DOT effects, elemental buffs, follow-up attacks, and utility supports are honestly deciding most late-game runs right now.
So if you’re wondering which units deserve your gems and which ones are just bait, this guide breaks everything down properly without the usual “every unit is OP” nonsense.
Anime Story 2 Tier List Guide – Best Meta Units (Re Release)
Right now the game heavily rewards:
- DOT teams
- Elemental synergy
- Full AoE farming
- Fast wave clear
- Support stacking
That’s why units like Gojo, Anking, Shadow Knight, and Beerus feel absurdly strong compared to older-style DPS units.
A lot of newer players make the mistake of focusing only on attack stats. In this game, passives matter WAY more than they first appear.
Especially when supports start multiplying damage effects.
Meta DPS Units
These are the units currently dominating endgame content and difficult events.
Anking
Anking is honestly one of the craziest units in the game right now.
The poison damage combined with enemy marking creates ridiculous scaling, especially in longer fights. The real reason he’s meta though is because he synergizes perfectly with DOT supports.
Pair him with Gojo and things get stupid fast.
Instead of just being “good DPS,” he becomes an entire win condition for your team.
If you’re building around meta content, Anking is absolutely worth prioritizing.
Aizen
Aizen feels built specifically for raids and boss-focused content.
The first-hit burst damage combined with stuns makes him insanely strong for short fights and early wave clears. His single-target damage is brutal, especially when traits are involved.
He may not farm as comfortably as Ace or DOT units, but for nuking difficult enemies quickly, he’s one of the best picks available.
Tengen
Before the nerf, Tengen was honestly ridiculous.
He’s still meta, but not completely brainless anymore. His random flashy effects can still output massive damage spikes, especially during follow-up chains.
The issue is consistency.
Sometimes he melts enemies. Other times the damage feels weirdly inconsistent. Still extremely strong though, especially for players who like aggressive DPS comps.
Shadow Knight (Igris)
Shadow Knight is one of the most reliable S-tier units right now.
The bleed stacking alone already makes him powerful, but once you combine him with Gojo’s DOT amplification, the damage ramps insanely fast.
He works in almost every game mode too, which makes him even more valuable.
Honestly one of the safest investments in the entire game.
Best Support Units In Anime Story 2 Re Release
Supports are carrying the meta harder than most people realize.
Some supports literally double your team damage output.
Gojo
Probably the best support unit in the entire game right now.
Doubling DOT effects is absolutely broken.
There’s really no other way to describe it.
If you’re running poison, bleed, burn, frostbite, or black flames, Gojo instantly makes your entire team stronger. He turns already strong units into complete monsters.
This is the kind of support that will probably stay relevant for a very long time.
Slime Demon
Slime Demon is ridiculously valuable because of the universal utility.
- Buffs water units massively
- Gives other elements bonus damage
- Applies Black Flames
- Increases enemy damage taken
That combination is insane for team building.
He feels less like a pure support and more like an entire damage amplifier for your squad.
Beerus
Beerus quietly became one of the strongest elemental supports in the game.
Dark teams are insanely strong right now, which automatically increases Beerus’ value. Add poison synergy on top of that and he becomes incredibly dangerous in DOT comps.
Not flashy, but extremely effective.
Tatsumaki
Grass buffs are carrying Tatsumaki hard right now.
A 30% elemental boost may not sound game-changing at first, but once you start stacking optimized teams, the damage difference becomes very noticeable.
She’s especially valuable for players building specialized elemental teams.
Best Beginner Units
Not everyone is pulling secrets and Monarch traits immediately, so here are some units that genuinely help newer players progress faster.
Ace
Ace is probably the best beginner-friendly unit in the game.
Full AoE burn damage makes story farming incredibly easy. He clears waves fast, farms gems efficiently, and remains useful even after you get stronger units.
The fact that leveling and shiny farming him is relatively easy makes him even better.
Some players underrate him because he’s accessible.
That’s a mistake.
Rookie
Rookie works surprisingly well early game because tanks are still somewhat useful during progression.
She falls off later, but for beginners trying to survive harder stages, she does her job well enough.
Time Angel
Healing isn’t dominating the current meta, but for newer accounts, Time Angel can honestly save runs.
A 50% heal every round gives weaker teams much more survivability than people expect.
Not meta, but definitely useful.
Strong S-Tier Units Worth Building
These units are excellent even if they aren’t fully meta-defining.
Broly Monarch
Broly absolutely destroys Slime Apocalypse.
The elemental advantage scaling gets out of control fast, especially with Monarch and crit setups.
Outside that event, he’s still extremely strong, but Slime Apocalypse is where he truly feels unfair.
Greed
Greed is honestly underrated right now.
Executing enemies below 25% HP sounds simple, but execution passives become incredibly valuable in difficult endgame content.
This unit feels future-proof.
I wouldn’t be surprised if Greed becomes even stronger later as harder bosses release.
Pride Sun (Escanor)
Escanor is solid overall and surprisingly durable.
His form mechanics make him interesting, though dark-element dominance currently holds him back slightly.
Still a very strong unit and definitely worth using.
Aura Farmer
Aura Farmer has strong stats, respectable survivability, and good pressure against healthy enemies.
Not completely broken, but very dependable.
Sometimes dependable units age better than flashy ones.
Units That Feel Mid Right Now
These units aren’t terrible, but they either need buffs, better synergy, or future content to shine properly.
Vegito Blue
The scaling damage sounds amazing on paper.
In practice, he’s good… but not amazing enough to justify placing above top-tier carries.
Still usable though.
Itachi
The dodge-counter mechanic is cool, but the activation rate makes him inconsistent.
When it works, he feels incredible.
When it doesn’t, he feels disappointing.
Ichigo
Ichigo has one of the most complicated passives in the game, but complexity does not always equal strength.
He’s decent, but the results don’t fully match the hype.
Bald
Old players expected Bald to dominate again.
That didn’t really happen.
The third-hit burst damage is solid, but modern Anime Story gameplay rewards speed and consistency more than delayed burst damage.
Units That Could Become Meta Later
Some characters are one balance patch away from exploding into the meta.
Lust
Stat swapping sounds niche right now, but future PvE mechanics could make this insanely valuable.
Definitely one of the most interesting utility units in the game.
Silent Boom
A 50% Light buff has huge future potential.
The problem is Light DPS units currently aren’t strong enough to fully abuse it yet.
That will probably change later.
Critical Damage Supports
Crit-focused supports are not dominating yet, but if future units scale harder with crit mechanics, these supports could rise quickly.
Worth keeping an eye on.
