Jump Showdown went full chaos mode with this update—and honestly, it fits. Instead of small tweaks or filler content, they dropped something unexpected: ABA-style characters inside JJS, plus a flashy new move for David that actually feels worth using.

It’s not a massive update in size, but the way it plays? It’s one of those updates you jump into just to mess around… and then end up staying longer than planned.

How to Unlock Goku & Luffy (Event Explained)

This part confused a lot of players at first because the game doesn’t really spell it out clearly.

Here’s how it works:

  • Look for a roaming NPC (spawns randomly around the map)
  • Interact and perform a 40% combo on the dummy
  • The combo MUST be red (true combo)
  • If it’s green → it doesn’t count

After you complete it:

  • You instantly unlock a moveset
  • It’s a 50/50 chance between:
    • Goku
    • Luffy

If you’re in a private server, you can skip the effort and just use strong weapons (like railgun) to trigger it quickly.

ABA Goku Moveset

Goku feels exactly like you’d expect—fast, aggressive, and very combo-heavy.

Core Moves:

  • Dragon Combo – Standard combo extender
  • Kamehameha – Straight-line burst damage
  • Goku Rush – High damage engage
  • Kaioken – Big damage boost

Ultimate:

  • Spirit Bomb

It hits hard. Not subtle, not fancy—just raw damage.

How He Feels:

  • Strong burst damage
  • Easy to combo
  • Very straightforward

He’s not complicated, but he doesn’t need to be.

ABA Luffy Moveset

Luffy is where things start getting a bit wild.

Core Moves:

  • Gatling – Multi-hit combo tool
  • Bazooka – Heavy damage (around ~30%)
  • Rocket – Mobility + engage
  • Pistol – Fast ranged poke

Ultimate:

  • Gear 3

Not a guaranteed one-shot, but still hits hard enough to swing fights.

What Makes Him Strong:

  • Smooth combo chaining
  • Easy extensions after M1
  • High consistent damage

Luffy feels more fluid than Goku—and honestly more annoying to fight against.

Important Note About These Characters

These aren’t normal roster additions.

They’re:

  • Event-based
  • Slightly overtuned
  • Meant to be fun, not balanced

So yeah… they’re strong. That’s kind of the point.

David Chrome Vortex (New Variant Move)

This is easily one of the highlights of the update.

How to Use:

  • Activate Ultimate
  • Press 1 + 2 together

This triggers:
Chrome Vortex

And visually? It’s one of the cleanest moves in the game right now.

It pulls, damages, and looks insanely polished compared to everything else in the update.

David Changes (Buffs + Nerfs)

David didn’t just get a new move—he got adjusted heavily.

  • Multiple nerfs across abilities
  • Some buffs in specific areas
  • Overall more balanced (less oppressive than before)

If you were maining him before, you’ll definitely feel the difference.

Skill Building Changes

Not the flashiest part of the update, but still important:

  • Adjustments to skill systems
  • New effects added
  • Better flexibility in builds

This is more of a long-term improvement rather than something you notice instantly.

This update feels exactly like what an April Fools update should be:

  • Unexpected
  • A little broken
  • Actually fun

Goku and Luffy aren’t here to be balanced—they’re here to shake things up. And honestly, they do that pretty well.

The real standout, though, is Chrome Vortex. That move alone feels like something they might actually build on in future updates.

If you haven’t tried the event yet, jump in and grab at least one of the characters. Even if it’s temporary content, it’s the kind of update that’s just fun to play—not grind, not optimize… just play.
