Let’s talk about this properly, because choosing a Cursed Technique in Cursed Gear isn’t just about picking what looks cool — it’s about how you want to fight every single encounter. Some techniques give you control, some give you survivability, and some just look strong until you actually use them in real fights and realize they’re not it.

So instead of throwing bullet points at you, I’m going to walk you through each tier like we’re figuring it out together, the way you’d actually think about it while playing.

S Tier

If you get one of these, your entire gameplay loop feels easier and more controlled.

The Hunter is one of those techniques that doesn’t look flashy at first, but once you understand it, it becomes scary. You can literally disappear from fights, reposition, and come back when you want. The invisibility isn’t just for running — it’s for controlling engagements. You decide when damage happens, and that alone makes it top tier.

Vampirism feels completely broken in the right conditions. The regeneration, healing, and sustain make you incredibly hard to kill, especially in shaded areas. The downside is real though — sunlight absolutely destroys your value. So it’s one of those techniques where you feel like a boss in some situations and completely restricted in others.

Damocles is a thinking player’s technique. It doesn’t carry you — you have to carry it. When you correctly predict your opponent’s actions, it punishes them brutally. But if you guess wrong, you get nothing. So in the hands of a good player, it’s S tier. In the hands of someone guessing randomly, it drops hard.

A Tier

These techniques won’t carry you automatically, but they give you consistent value in most situations.

Gilded Shadow is basically like having a second life if you use it correctly. Being able to swap between two bodies while one regenerates gives you insane survivability. But the catch is awareness — if you forget about your other body’s position, it can get punished easily.

Shadow Realm is one of those abilities that becomes more valuable the more players are involved. Removing someone from the fight for a few seconds can completely shift the momentum. It’s not about damage — it’s about control, and that’s why it sits comfortably in A tier.

The Dealer feels weird at first, but once you understand it, it becomes a mind-game machine. You’re not just fighting — you’re forcing your opponent to follow rules. If they mess up, they get punished heavily. Against disciplined players, it’s less effective, but against most players, it creates chaos.

Path to the Grave is all about snowballing. Once you apply your marks and follow up properly, you can deal massive damage and even turn enemies into healing sources. It rewards good timing and awareness, but if you fail to follow up, it loses a lot of value.

B Tier

These techniques work, but they either need setup, specific situations, or a bit more effort to shine.

Sun Breather is solid if you like burn damage and Black Flash synergy. The sunlight bonus is nice, but the fact that part of its strength depends on environment makes it less consistent overall.

Ouji is very straightforward. It has a grab that ignores block and parry, which is strong, but the lack of flexibility holds it back. It’s good in close fights, but doesn’t offer much beyond that.

Tremor works well in group fights where you can control space and disrupt enemies. The problem is that it makes you more noticeable, and in 1v1 situations it’s not as impactful.

Highlight Reel is one of those techniques that feels amazing when used creatively. Rewinding your movement can bait opponents or save you from bad positions, but it doesn’t directly give you damage or pressure.

Medium gives you a mix of stun and counterplay. It’s useful, but very timing-dependent. If you miss your window, it doesn’t do much.

Rain God is strong, but only if you set it up properly. The lightning effects and orb system can apply pressure, but it takes time to build that pressure.

Moth Flames rewards players who are already good at landing Black Flashes. If you’re consistent with that, it becomes strong. If not, it feels average.

Ball of Doom is one of those techniques that can feel oppressive in tight spaces. In open areas, though, players can just disengage.

Starlink is amazing in team play because of the double AoE stun, but in solo situations it loses a lot of its value.

Ghostwriter is interesting because of its execution mechanic and NPC spawning, but its effectiveness depends heavily on where you’re fighting.

C Tier

These techniques either require too much setup, are too risky, or just don’t give enough value compared to others.

Madness Factor gives you strong buffs, but the fact that you lose control of your character makes it unreliable. It can work, but it’s risky.

Where’s Your Head At makes your attacks hard to react to, but it drains your energy quickly and doesn’t last long enough to be consistent.

The Meg is more of a tracking tool than a combat tool. It’s useful for finding low-health enemies, but not great in direct fights.

Hot Potato is chaotic and fun, but not reliable. It can create pressure, but it’s easy to misplay.

Bounce gives you mobility, but the forced bouncing makes it awkward to control in real combat.

Yang is just too basic. It works, but compared to everything else, it feels limited.

The Shipyard has decent damage potential, but setting it up in real fights is difficult.

Fresh Cut is more of a fun/social technique than a serious combat option. It doesn’t offer enough in fights to be competitive.

If you want something that will consistently perform well, go for The Hunter, Vampirism, or Damocles depending on your playstyle. If you want something safe and reliable, A-tier options like Gilded Shadow or Shadow Realm will never let you down.

At the end of the day, the best technique isn’t just the strongest one — it’s the one that fits how you play. But yeah… some of them definitely make your life a lot easier than others.
