Anime Paradox Beginner Guide – Fast Progression, Gems

Anime Paradox looks like another anime TD at first glance, but the pacing matters a lot more than people expect. Early on, one wrong decision can slow you down for hours, while a smart start can snowball you straight into endgame modes without feeling stuck. This guide is written from a “play it fast, don’t waste time” perspective, not a perfect or clean one, because that’s honestly how this game feels when you’re learning it.

Codes and Story Stages

As soon as you load in, redeem every available code. Even a small number of gems early changes how fast your account ramps up, especially since first clears are the real gem source in this game. After that, story stages are non-negotiable. Normal story stages give you a solid gem payout on first clear, and Nightmare doubles down on that. You are not farming here yet, you’re unlocking value.

For the very early stages, even red units can carry, but that phase disappears quickly. Legends are where the game starts feeling smooth, and if you get lucky with a Mythic early, your entire progression path shortens. Don’t stress if you don’t. The game is playable without insane luck.

Early Units

Most Legends can push you through normal story without issue, so don’t overthink it too much. Units like Grim Draw, Rod Dark, or similar early Legends all perform close enough that the difference barely matters at this stage. If you’ve AFKed before launch and have Mega, she’s not amazing long-term, but she will brute-force normal and Nightmare story, which is all you need her to do.

Once you start summoning seriously, your priorities change. Your first real damage goal should be Broly, followed closely by Killua. Buff-focused units sound tempting, but early on you just need things to die. Buffs matter later, not when you’re still unlocking content.

For farming, Bulma is the game. One farm unit is enough for every mode, and Bulma outclasses everything else so hard that it’s not even a debate. If you pull her, build her and never look back.

Killua deserves special mention because he’s easy to evolve without touching challenges or awkward requirements. You just buy the needed essences from merchants using gold you’ll already have from summoning. That ease alone makes him one of the best early investments in the entire game.

How Gem Farming Actually Works

Right now, Anime Paradox is brutally honest about gems. First clears are king. Normal, Nightmare, Legend, and Raid clears all dump gems on you the first time, and that’s where most of your early currency comes from. Repeating stages gives gems too, but the difference is massive.

Legend stages are the sweet spot for repeat farming. They’re much easier than raids, still reward decent gems per clear, and don’t punish weaker teams as hard. Raids technically give more, but they’re tuned way higher than most early accounts can handle, even with strong traits.

While doing Legend stages, you should also be hunting for your first Secret unit: Ichigo. Getting him is a turning point. The game feels noticeably harder without him once you step into siege and raid content, so don’t rush past this step. Farm until you get him.

Challenges, Milestones, and Battle Pass Pain

Regular challenges are fine to do along the way. Daily and weekly challenges are noticeably tougher and honestly feel better tackled after you’ve cleared most story and Legend content. Don’t bash your head against them too early.

Milestones matter more than they look. Gems, traits, and battle pass XP are all tied to them, and battle pass XP is especially important right now since enemy kills don’t always give it yet. Claim everything, even if the UI bugs out sometimes.

Trait rerolls are limited. There’s no secret trick. You get them from battle pass rewards, milestones, challenges, and small shop purchases. That’s it. Because of this, don’t chase perfect traits early. A decent Epic or Mythic trait is more than enough, especially since Bulma’s economy lets you max units during runs anyway.

Ichigo, Siege Mode, and When to Touch Raids

Once Ichigo is evolved and has a usable trait (anything except healing-focused ones), siege mode becomes your main loop. Siege is infinite, predictable, and far more forgiving than raids. You can comfortably farm trait rolls and materials here without feeling punished.

Raids come later. Much later. They are overtuned for most midgame accounts, and even strong teams struggle in Act 3. Sanji is incredible, but he’s not worth the frustration until your account is ready.

Egress is another long-term goal that looks intimidating because of its cost. If you’re choosing between trait rolls and Egress materials from shops, prioritize Egress. Trait rolls can wait. Egress cannot.

Placement and Gameplay Flow (The Simple Version)

Gameplay in Anime Paradox is less about fancy positioning and more about timing. Place your DPS units first where enemies spawn, then drop your farm unit far away so it never gets touched. You can safely upgrade farm units for the first few waves because enemies won’t reach them yet.

Once portals start opening closer, you shift back to DPS placement and upgrades. Stacking units works in this game, and you should abuse it. Grouped DPS melts waves faster and simplifies decision-making. Slow units can be placed along paths purely to buy time, not to deal damage.

Healing units matter more than people admit, especially if your traits aren’t perfect. Units can and will get one-shot later, and having healing available saves runs that would otherwise end early.

Clear all story content first, including Nightmare. Push Legend stages next and farm them repeatedly. Get Ichigo and evolve him before chasing anything fancy. Use siege mode as your main long-term farming loop. Ignore raids until your account genuinely feels strong. Sell low-tier units for gold, keep duplicates for ascension, and don’t burn trait rolls chasing perfection too early.
