The latest Jujutsu Shenanigans update quietly turned Nanami into a completely different character. While the patch itself wasn’t marketed as a massive overhaul, the amount of changes Nanami received fundamentally reshaped his gameplay. Between the new Overtime awakening, the Ratio Black Flash mechanic, and a long list of balance adjustments, Nanami now feels far more aggressive, flexible, and threatening than before.

This guide explains how the new Nanami works, how to use his ultimate properly, and what the balance changes mean in real fights.

Overtime Awakening – Nanami’s New Ultimate

Effect:
Activates Overtime mode and unlocks Ratio Black Flash

Overtime is Nanami’s new awakening state, and it immediately changes how he fights. Once activated, Nanami drops his weapon and switches to bare-handed combat, visually marked by a blue aura. This isn’t just cosmetic. His entire flow becomes faster and more combo-focused.

The biggest addition during Overtime is the new Ratio Black Flash move, which gives Nanami access to multiple Black Flash hits in a single sequence rather than a single, high-risk attempt.

Ratio Breaker (Ratio Black Flash)

Type:
Multi-stage Black Flash attack

Ratio Breaker is the centerpiece of the rework. Instead of relying on strict timing, this move progresses through up to four stages. Each successful hit advances the sequence, with the fourth hit triggering a cinematic Black Flash finisher.

In practice, this makes Nanami’s Black Flash far more reliable than most characters. There is no tight timing window, the range is forgiving, and the later hits are easier to land once the sequence starts. The final hit feels especially powerful, both visually and mechanically, and it’s much easier to confirm compared to traditional Black Flash mechanics.

One important detail is that the finisher only triggers if the later parts of the move connect. Landing the early hits alone will not activate it, which rewards players who commit and position correctly rather than fishing for single hits.

Ratio Point Changes

Behavior Changes:
Now invisible to enemies, usable during stun, and affects multiple targets

Ratio Point received several important quality-of-life buffs. Enemies can no longer see when a Ratio Point is applied, which removes visual tells and makes Nanami less predictable. The move is also now usable while Nanami is stunned, allowing him to interrupt pressure instead of being locked down.

Additionally, Ratio Point is no longer restricted to a single enemy at a time. While the interaction can feel situational, it opens up more flexibility in group fights. The cooldown was reduced by two seconds, and the duration was increased to four and a half seconds, making the mechanic more forgiving and more impactful overall.

Core Move Adjustments

Nanami’s base kit was adjusted heavily to support his more aggressive identity.

Cleaving Whirlwind and Blunt Cut now cause limb staggers on interruption rather than only working against blocking enemies. This makes Nanami far more effective against mobile opponents who rely on dashes and movement.

The first ability received visual improvements and now has a lingering hitbox. Its ragdoll duration and arm stagger duration were increased slightly, which makes combos feel more consistent and less likely to drop.

Severance Kick had its hit lag reduced significantly, making it feel smoother, though its cooldown was increased. It now disables enemy M1 attacks during the stun, which gives Nanami better control once he lands it.

Reverse Kick now stuns on interruption and has stronger hit stop when it connects, making it more reliable as a pressure tool.

Blunt Cut received a small charge distance increase and visual improvements, especially in the air variant. The aerial version now grants melee invulnerability frames during the fall, which helps Nanami survive aerial engagements and disengage safely.

Ultimate Bonuses and Kill Effects

Overtime Bonus:
+75 Health

Activating Nanami’s ultimate now grants a large health boost, making Overtime not just an offensive awakening but also a defensive reset. This allows Nanami to stay in fights longer and aggressively push opponents without instantly folding.

Ratio-based kills now cause increased knockback, which can help reset neutral or push enemies out of position after a confirmed elimination.

How Nanami Feels After the Rework

Nanami no longer feels like a slow, methodical character that relies on precision alone. The new version rewards momentum, pressure, and sustained offense. His Black Flash is more accessible, his tools are harder to interrupt, and his survivability during Overtime makes him far less punishing to play.

He still rewards smart positioning and timing, but the rework removes many of the frustrating limitations that held him back before. Nanami is now a strong pick for players who want consistent pressure without relying on perfect execution.

This update effectively modernized Nanami. The Overtime awakening and Ratio Black Flash give him a unique identity, while the balance changes smooth out his weaknesses without making him oppressive. He feels stronger, more reliable, and far more enjoyable to play.
