The new crab cages introduced with the Tidefall update completely change how passive farming works underwater. These are no longer basic place-and-wait tools, they are strategic equipment that you can fine-tune based on how you want to play.
You can purchase most standard new crab cages directly inside Tidefall from the central hub shop. Once you are there, look for the cage vendor near the main marketplace area. Each cage has different strengths, so you should not buy randomly.
When you place a crab cage, it must be dropped into valid water inside Tidefall or its sub-areas such as Coral Basin or Sunken Relics. The cage will sink to the ocean floor and begin passively trapping crabs over time.
Some cages are designed for speed. These fill up faster, meaning you can collect rewards more frequently, but they may not always give the rarest items.
Other cages are designed for luck. These take longer to fill, but when you retrieve them, you have a much higher chance of getting rare crabs, valuable materials, or Tidefall-specific loot.
Hybrid cages exist as well. These balance speed and luck, making them the safest all-round option if you are unsure what to use.
After placing your cage, you must wait a certain amount of real-time before retrieving it. The game does not instantly give rewards, so patience is required.
When enough time has passed, swim back to your cage, interact with it, and collect your loot. You can then redeploy it in the same spot or move it to a better farming location.
A smart player never places just one cage. Always deploy multiple cages across different Tidefall zones to maximize efficiency and reduce downtime.
The best locations are usually calm, open areas with minimal strong currents, especially in Coral Basin where visibility is better and navigation is easier.
How to Farm Relic Crab Cages in Tidefall Fisch
Relic Crab Cages are a special and more valuable variant that do not behave like normal cages. You cannot simply buy these from a shop, you must actively farm them through exploration and gameplay.
The main way to obtain Relic Crab Cages is by exploring deep areas inside Tidefall, particularly the Sunken Relics region. These cages are often found near ruined structures, ancient pillars, or ritual sites.
Look for glowing debris, broken stone formations, or underwater ruins, because Relic Cages tend to spawn near these visual landmarks rather than in open sandy areas.
Another reliable method is to participate in the Dripstone Collapse event inside Tidefall. When dripstones fall from the cave ceiling and break apart, they sometimes drop valuable materials, including Relic Crab Cages or components needed to craft them.
You should always be actively swimming and scanning the environment during this event instead of fishing or standing still.
Certain Tidefall quests and NPC interactions can also reward you with Relic Crab Cages. In particular, the Seeker of Sunken Relics may give you related objectives that eventually lead to these items.
Once you obtain a Relic Crab Cage, using it works similarly to normal cages, but the rewards are significantly better. These cages have much higher luck and can trap rare Tidefall crabs that regular cages cannot catch.
Place Relic Cages in deeper, darker areas rather than shallow coral zones. They perform best near ruins, abyssal trenches, or the Sunken Relics region.
Never place all your Relic Cages in one spot. Spread them across multiple areas so you are not wasting potential spawn chances.
When farming, return periodically rather than waiting too long, because retrieving and redeploying increases your total yield over time.
