Update 8.5 of Anime Vanguards brought in a brand-new dungeon: the Frozen Volcano. At first glance, it can feel overwhelming, but the truth is there’s a very simple method to beat it solo. The best part? You can grind it for Dragon Balls, currency, and even the items you’ll need to unlock Broly.
This Anime Vanguards Frozen Volcano Dungeon Guide will walk you step by step through how to set up your team, what to expect, and the exact strategy to clear the dungeon quickly and reliably.
Anime Vanguards Update 8.5 Frozen Volcano Dungeon Guide
The single most important piece for this method is Esganor.
- You don’t need him with Monarch; even a traitless Esganor works perfectly.
- If you don’t have him, you can try running Kaga Sunjun Wu, but Esganor is simply stronger and makes the run much easier.
If you have both, even with Monarch on another unit, you should still prioritize using Esganor here.
Step 1: Set Up Your Lineup
Before you enter the dungeon, make sure Esganor is in your first slot. This matters because the strategy relies on auto-upgrading him right at the start.
When you select a card at the beginning, choose “The Tyrant Arrives”.
- This card will give you a free max upgrade on your first unit, instantly setting Esganor to his peak power.
- Alternatively, you could use Sphere Finder (which starts you with extra spheres), but the auto-max card is generally faster and safer for this method.
Step 2: Starting the Dungeon
Once inside, unequip everything except Esganor so that he’s the only one available.
Place him down as soon as the dungeon starts. Thanks to the Tyrant Arrives card, he’ll be fully maxed immediately. This is what allows you to breeze through the early waves without stress.
Step 3: Farming Dragon Balls
Here’s the main mechanic you’ll be focusing on: Golden Frieza spawns every 3 waves.
- When Golden Frieza spawns, sell your current Vegeta (if placed), and then drop a new maxed Vegeta wherever Frieza is.
- Vegeta will melt Frieza almost instantly, rewarding you with one Dragon Ball.
- Repeat this process every time Frieza shows up until you’ve collected all seven Dragon Balls.
This part is super consistent because the spawns are predictable — every 2–3 waves — so it becomes a rinse-and-repeat routine.
Step 4: Claiming the Rewards
Once you finish the run, you’ll earn:
- Dragon Balls
- Dungeon currency (around 160–210 per run)
- A chance at the Broly Remote, which is required to unlock Broly’s evolution
The entire run usually takes about 11 minutes. If you use Sphere Finder instead of Tyrant Arrives, you can shave the time down to about 9 minutes.
This method cannot be macroed. Golden Frieza’s spawns are tied to waves but still require manual placement and timing. There’s no way to automate it.
You don’t need perfect traits or insane upgrades to do this. Even a traitless Esganor with this setup will carry you through.
The Broly Remote is RNG, but farming is so fast with this method that you’ll collect it naturally while stacking Dragon Balls and currency.
The Frozen Volcano dungeon might look intimidating, but with Esganor leading the charge, it becomes one of the easiest farms in the entire update. In just one or two sessions, you’ll have most of what you need to unlock Broly and stock up on resources.
If you’re short on time or want a reliable way to grind without a full team, this solo method is hands-down the most efficient approach right now.
