The latest Slap Battles update has arrived, introducing the Paint Glove, a brand-new event-themed gamemode, and several gameplay changes and bug fixes. This patch also marks the launch of The Takeover Event, which brings ink-based mechanics into Slap Battles for a limited time. Here’s everything included in the update.
Slap Battles Update Guide – Paint Glove, Takeover Event, Codes
New Glove: Paint Glove
A new glove called the Paint Glove has been added to the game. This glove is part of the Takeover Event and introduces paint-based interactions. Although exact gameplay mechanics are not specified in this changelog, it’s tied to the Splat Battles gamemode where paint coverage determines your success.
The glove has been fully polished with a proper obtainment system and includes a renamed active ability, now referred to internally as triggerMove.
New Gamemode: Splat Battles
The update introduces a limited-time gamemode known as Splat Battles. This mode is part of the Takeover Event and challenges players to spread paint using the new Paint Glove.
Players compete to cover the most surface area with paint. It’s a major departure from the usual slap-based mechanics and offers a more territory-control-focused experience.
Splat Battles may be time-limited and could rotate out of the game after the event ends.
Gameplay Changes
Several gameplay mechanics have been updated to improve combat and visual consistency:
- The move hitbox cooldown is now set to 4 seconds.
- The stop hitbox cooldown is now set to 1 second.
- Spawned hitboxes can no longer deal knockback for 1 second after spawning.
These changes are likely intended to prevent exploitative or unbalanced combos using spawned effects or rapid-fire hitbox interactions.
MR Character Behavior Adjustments
The MR entity (presumably part of a glove or ability) has received a few changes to its interaction model:
- MR no longer automatically jumpscares the player when slapped.
- A jumpscare now plays only when MR rams into a player at high speeds.
- A second collision triggers a separate, more intense jumpscare (same as the one previously triggered after being slapped twice).
- Players can now counter this by slapping MR before it rams into them, which prevents the jumpscare from happening.
- The E ability for MR now ends cleanly. It no longer flings the player, as it properly resets orientation and removes excess velocity.
These changes offer a fairer counterplay experience while retaining the tension and surprise factor MR was designed to bring.
Glove Remodels
Several gloves have received updated models thanks to the community creators:
- Killstreak Mastery glove has been remodeled by ReaperX84720
- Friction glove has been remodeled by ReaperX84720
- Shotgun glove has been remodeled by Pollo_MaUnCubo
These remodels enhance the visual quality of the gloves and align them more closely with modern glove designs seen in recent patches.
Bug Fixes
A few key bugs have been addressed in this update:
- Fixed an issue where the BONK Mastery confetti knockback would trigger even when no players were hit or squished.
- Alberto now quacks as intended. This likely refers to a cosmetic or ability feature that was missing sound functionality.
These fixes help polish the gameplay experience and ensure glove effects behave as expected.
With the Takeover Event in full swing and the Paint Glove leading the charge, this update marks a creative shift from pure slapping into territory-control gameplay. Whether you’re playing casually or going for competitive badge unlocks, now is the best time to jump back into Slap Battles and try out the new mechanics.
